Don't let its looks deceive you. Clean and smooth, easy on the hops and easy on the palate; this light bodied ale has a surprising depth of malt flavors with pleasant hints of a smoky molasses.

This dark poured a deep amber colour with a creamy, tan coloured head. Nice lacing. Scents include caramel, light toast and a little must. First swig was really watery. Flavours of caramel malt and minimal hops. Finish is malty with an almost iced tea like flavour lingering.

Pretty good black ale, refusing to cross the line into stout or porter territory. Instead offers mild notes of chocolate and berry with a gentle bitterness on the finish. Not groundbreaking, but solid.

Keg at the brewery. Dark brown, thin creamy tan head, good retention. Aroma of raisin and caramel. Taste is roasted malt, cherries. Thin.

Nice flavor without the burnt, smoky nature. Semi sweet, body leans towards watery. Cola colored, minimal head, abrupt finish.

Very very nice black pour from a can, impressive mild roasty aroma too!. Big head, alabaster. First taste makes me wonder why this is called a widowmaker, its simply a kind and gentle well behaved dark beer. Really has manners and its really enjoyable, I’m liking this brew. Its so nifty to finally have a beer over 5% that is not totally in yer face. Yes, one of the better dark beers I’ve had for a while. During the session, the aroma gets a little more metallic and the co2 goes just a tad flat but overall this was a good beer experience.
