7-3-7-4-14  Pours deep dark brown, with a small mocha head. Aroma is dark malts with dark fruits, tobacco, muscovado and liquorice, as well as herbal notes from the aquavit wooden barrels. Creamy body, with soft carbonation. Flavour is dark roasted malts with rye bread, dark fruits, muscovado and liquorice, as well as herbal notes and wooden barrels. Nice, but no upgrade from the exeptional regular version of Bestefar with a couple of years of storage.

Bottle at home. One year old. Has a dark brown to black colour with a light brown head. Aroma of ash, chocolate truffles, leather, oak and rubber. Hints of aquavit and black currants. Flavour of ash, licorice, rubber, smoke and some aquavit. Has a slick and silky mouth feel, full-bodied and a light bitterness. The aquavit is and interesting twist on this ale. Not sure if it's the best combination, and I prefer the standard Bestefar. Rich and tasteful anyway.

On tap at Haandgemeng. A hazy brown beer with a finger-thick beige head. Some curtains. The aroma is boozy, in a good way, with some fresh fruits, a herbal hint and some honey, but mostly roasted malts, chocolate and caramel. It's full-bodied, silky-smooth and lightly warming, with some herbal notes from the barrels, hints of honey and a generic fruityness, and quite a lot of roasted malts, brown sugar, caramel and chocolate. A bit boozy in the finish. A delicious one indeed, but a bit heavy on the booze. I actually prefer the female of the species. 171027

On tap at Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger, Black colour, minimal beige head. Aroma of malts, caramel, molasses, oak and spiced liqueur. The flavour has a hint of smoke, and otherwise the same elements as the aroma, not too sweet.

From tap at Mi2 at Cardinal 12.11.18. Dark brown. Small pale brown head. Excellent and complex aroma and taste of dark malt, creosote, sigar box, figs, roganberries, Whisky and burnt oak.

Dark amber with off white head - Malt body with some spicy wood notes - Malt body with some caramel and roasted notes, chocolate and bitterness with some spicy wood notes in the back - The dark malt with some chocolate notes goes into the finish with nice bitterness in the back - This was good

KØLF 090318. Red dark brown color with a tan head. Aroma is roasted malt, wood, caramel, chocolate. Flavor is chocolate, roasted malt, wood, caramel, aquavit, licorice, alcohol. Medium to full body. Nice beer.
