Twisted Kipper is our expressive and aromatic IPA, with a De Kromme Haring twist. Not only do we put loads of aromatic hops in this beer, we also ferment it with Sacch. Trois yeast. This is one of our favourite yeasts as it creates wonderful and complex fruity esters. These lock in extremely with all the hop flavours. Twisting this kipper in spectacular ways!

Bottle. Golden pour. Aroma of orange, citrus, grassy malt and some yeast. Taste of bitter grassy hop, orange, citrus, hay, yeast and malt. Bit too much carbo and too few hops.

25-09-18 // 330ml bottle bought at ABS Drinks Leuven. Unclear golden orange. Big foamy head. Well carbonated. Tropical fruit nose. Dry biscuity sweet malty body. Then a pineapple fruit note. Some more tropical notes. A long lasting bitter finish. Nice IPA.

"Twisted kipper" is about as literal as "Kromme Haring" can be translated, nice find in terms of name-giving related to fish as this brewing project tends to do. Fresh from tap at Dok Brewing Company in Ghent, thanks Craftmember for sharing. Egg-white, medium thick, stable head lacing in shreds over a misty peach blonde beer with warm orange golden hue. Aroma of moldy grapefruit, stale armpit sweat, old 'hop urine', cheese crackers, lemon peel, dried apricot, green olive. Fruity onset in a clean way, dried fig and apricot, pineapple and lychee accents, sharp and minerally carbonation (bit too much for the style), biscuit- and cracker-like malt 'underground', powdery feel in the finish, hayish and grapefruity hoppiness, zesty and colourful with the intentional yeastiness adding a slight funky touch as well as complexity. Almost a 'Belgian style IPA' in certain ways (the yeastiness), complex, zesty and earthy, very interesting and tasty.

Bottle. Color: Hazy orange golden, off-white head. Aroma: Sourish hoppy. Taste: Citrus and floral hop, funk notes. Over medium bitter, lightly sour. Long lasting very bitter and slightly funk finish. Medium to above medium body, average carbonation. Nice.

Bottle shared at a tasting at tomer's place. Thanks David K. for this bottle! Murky golden, white head. Fruity hops, yeast, soapy brett, flowers, bitter, a bit green, a bit harsh. A bit messy.

At a tasting, thanks, big bubbly head, too much carbonation, murky intense orange color, mineral herbal aroma with a just abredy malty hint, tough coarse bitterness, some sopainess, citrus and a sweetish fruitiness. Ok, but nothing too excitint.

Bottle @ home. Clear slightly orangy mostly golden color, medium sized white head that lasts for a short while. Aroma shoots out of the bottle and out of my glass: heavily hopped with fruity, tropical fruit and piney hops. Awesome! Flavor is lightly malts, fruit hops, resinous and piney just the right amount to balance out very well and connect with the fruity hop flavors as well. Moderately bitter, decent body, easy drinkable, soft carbonation. Great job, very well done!
