Smoked Hefeweizen from this young Polish craft brewery, thanks to Patrick De Vogel for sharing. Egg-white, moussy, creamy, stable head with opening middle, hazy golden peach blonde robe. Aroma of a lot of Rauchmalz (smoked bacon), cigarette tobacco, banana, white bread, cloves, ginger, pear. Sweetish onset, banana ester notes as is to be expected from a Hefeweizen, pear and pineapple aspects, softish carbonation, fluffy mouthfeel; smooth bready, bit soapy maltiness and 'wheatiness' soon turning smoky, as in smoked bacon-like Rauchbier, highlighted by a mild herbal hop touch; the smokiness, in a convincingly 'meaty' way, lingers afterwards. I love a good Rauchbier, this amount of straightforward smokiness is not common enough in the craft beer world as far as I'm concerned, and this surely qualifies for me.

Tap at Craft Beer Pub. Pretty good clean beer. Lots of clove, smoked ham, beech smoke. But the beer is great. Oh yeah. Cheers

Bottle with expiry date 2.02.2017. Dark amber colour, head smaller than usual for hefeweizen. Aroma is initially quite intensive burned wood, but soon it starts to taste like a Belgian sour - you can even feel some sauerkraut. Bananas are hardly noticeable, even smoked character is dominated by the sourness. Medium sour, light bitterness, not sweet. Light body, lively carbonation. Complete failure. Previous rating from 9th March 2016: 6/3/5/3/17=3.4 Bottle. Brown colour, cloudy, rocky head, not so big for a wheat beer. Aroma is quite much banana, smoked like smoked wood or ham. Not too aggressive, just ok. Very good.

500ml bottle. Cloudy, deep golden colour with small to average, frothy to macropore, diminishing, white head. Smoky, minimally tartish aroma, hints of ham, bacon, smoked eel, smoked trout. wheaty basis with a touch of apple and pear, sauerkraut trimmings. Taste is mildly tart, smoky, slightly wheaty, subtle sweetness, hints of pear and apple, a mild touch of sauerkraut, smoky notes seem to be more fishy (eel, trout) than fleshy (ham, bacon). Mild and mellow, very drinkable for its dodgy composition; probably benefits from the Polish Grodziskie experience.
