Draft: Clear, deep, copper with a beige head. Smoke, caramel malt aroma. Slightly meaty smoke, caramel malt flavor. Mildly sweet, fruit-wood smoke, Nice...mild and malty. A really good one...nicely balanced smoky tones.

Growler shared by beastiefan2k (thanks, Eugene) - oh yes, the aroma of this beer takes me back to my first experience with Schlekerla - deep woodsmoke and lightly caramelized sugars - creamy mouthfeel, smooth carbonation - Lightly sweet up front, but quickly becomes moderately bitter, with a mild but tasty campfire smokiness - becomes mildly tart and acidic through the middle and finish, which is a bit off putting at first, but once the palate adjusts it works quite well - quite a tasty smoked beer.

A few glasses from a growler filled 6 days previous at the brewery tasting room in St Louis, Missouri. Pour is copper, mahogany, ruby with a tan head that leave behind some nice lacing. Aroma is smoked meat, fruit sweetness, and a malt base. The smoke is not over powering, very soft and approachable, nicely balanced with the malt. The taste is more smoked meat than the nose, and the sweetness picks up some as well. Nice balance, certainly a smoke beer, but not overpoweringly so. Palate is medium bodied, sweetness lingers in the finish. Nice smoke beer. Like with all of the UCBC beers I had, clean and expertly made.
