12 oz bottle leftover from my work’s chili cook-off. Poured into a Spiegelau tulip. Best by May 22, 2016. Clear golden amber with off-white head. Aromas of citrus, rye, light floral. Tastes of grapefruit citrus, floral notes, light rye. Medium body with a dry finish.

Bottle. It pours a clear amber color with a light khaki head. The aroma has some orange and toasted malt. Maybe light hints of pine. Smells like lots of other malty rye-based IPA’s. The flavor has lots of orange, pine and some spicy, toasted rye. Pretty balanced between the hop and malt character without either one really making a huge impression. The finish is reasonably dry. This one does manage to avoid they syrupy impression I get from a lot of big rye beers, so that good. Otherwise, it’s pretty underwhelming. I was hoping for more of a tropical fruity beer with the Galaxy and Mosaic in there...No dice. Not a bad beer, just kind of boring.

Really nice. Aroma is a bit muted, but flavor really shines. Taste has plenty of fresh hop with just right fruity, sweet malt plus good carbonic tang to match. Great drinking beer.

Bomber. Pours a clear brownish copper color. Big 2 finger tan heads leaves some decent lacing. Aromas are toasty rye malt and earthy hops. Taste is rather dry, a bit sweet, and bready. Some light spice from the rye and a touch of alcohol round this out.

Very slightly hazy golden and straw coloured body with a glow of light bronze and a thinnish, single centimetre tall just off-white head. Aroma of rye (no surprise there), grass, sage, oregano and some rather herbal hops - nice all around and not too pungent with the rye. Medium-bodied; Assertive rye flavour at first with a definite grain flavour, some herbal and grassy hops and a perfumey kick of spices near the end showing the sage and mint at the finish. Aftertaste is more rye, grassy and herbal than anything else, although a light hop bitterness and some touches of sweetness come out at the very end. Overall, a nice rye-based IPA with not much hops noticeable and not too much complexity, but the balance of rye is nice and not overpowering, while the other herbs make this interesting! I sampled this 65 cL bottle purchased from Whole Foods in Arlington (Clarendon), Virginia on 07-April-2014 for US$4.99 sampled at home in Washington on 10-July-2014.

Pours slightly cloudy amber with a tight, tan head. Spicy caramel malt, peppery rye aroma. Taste is sweet, rye malt, herbal hops.... Nicely balanced and spiced. Creamy......very good.
