Bottle. Dark red / brown color with brown creamy and long lasting head. Aroma of roasted malt and vinegar. Mild flavor of choccolate and hops for such a strong beer.

Bottle. Almost black colour. Very small head. Starts very sweet but turns more malty. There is some coffee in the aftertaste, partly hidden by sweetness. Aftertaste also has a vinous touch.

(Bottle 75 cl) "Strong Dark Mild Ale" according to the label, which really is an odd description. Black and opaque with a small, beige head. Vinous aroma of raisins and other dried fruits. Quite sweet, roasted notes. Weak notes of burned malt withot it leaving any real bitterness. The sweetness dominates all through to the finish. 071105

Jet black; very dark brown head, fast disappearing. Nose of sweet chocolate, "pralines" (Belgian fine chocolates), chocolate truffles, lactose and - took me some time to recognise - cocos. Taste is an immediate impression of ink, then, very outspoken, bitter almonds. Further roasted malts, obviously, faint woody. Acidity appears in the finish, gradually but completely washing away the almond flaovur, becoming nearly lemony. Creamy mouthfeel, medium bodied, very much dry-out effect (I suspect quite some tannines). Long sourish aftertaste. This is a weird one, again. If it had kept to the bitter almonds, I would have thought it unique - though not my style. The reverting to the sourness makes it more my style - but much less remarkable. Thanks for the good choices, Alex!

A black beer with a chocolate brown head. The aroma is sweet malty and slightly sour. The flavor is also slightly sour with notes of malt, roasted malt, and coffee.

Very black. Peppery nose. Coffee aroma plus just a hint of the typical BFM-acidity. Complex, but not malty. I actually really like this one.

Black color with medium sized compact head. It has a nice perfume initially, hints of chocolate and smoke, black pepper; then some acidity. Smooth mouthfeel, nice roasted malt flavor, good dark chocolate, quite dry, with notes of wood oven baked bread; correct bitterness.
Balanced; very well brewed.

Wonderful dark beer, mainly like a Belgian abbey ale, with some roasted malt notes like an English stout, and later of liquorice.

Black w/light brown head; acidity and coffee on the nose; palate is quite sour, which overwhelms the sweet, softly roasted malt underneath. Disappointment from an otherwise fine brewery.
