Friday 16th February 2024, Prince of Wales, Shrewsbury; Cask Beer Festival. Hand-pulled half-pint. Black bodied, tanned head. Malty with chocolate and coffee grains to the fore, some silky vanilla flavours too, nice smooth Stout.

Near black with a frothy tan head and coffee and roasted malt on the nose, maybe just a hint of vanilla. Smooth, sweetish malt up front, coffee and roasted malt to follow, a hint of licorice in there with dry coffee bitterness to finish things off

Cask at Borough Arms, Crewe. Pours a very dark reddish-brown with a small cream head. There’s dark malts and coffee in the aroma. In the mouth there’s plenty of different flsvour with lactose and vanilla being prominent. Coffee and chocolate are also there in the mix along with traces of dark fruits and roasted malts. Finish is quite sweet and creamy. This is a decent beer but somewhat lacking in actual stout characteristics.

Third, keg at Dead Crafty Beer Company. Shared with Finn. Black in the glass, spotty lacing from a creamy beige head. Inviting aromas of coffee chocolate. Similar flavours of chocolate, cacao, and coffee. Nicely roasted finish. Like it. (Liverpool 27.01.2020).

Delt med Rune. Svart. Mokkafarget skumring. Spotlacing. Kakaoaroma. Smaken kaffe & syrlig frukt. Tørr avslutning.

Cask @ HoG. Has an encouragingly dark appearance, pale tan collar atop. Aroma of coffee, roast, vanilla hints. Taste is smooth with pleasant coffee, roast and vanilla integration with some caramel glimpses. Medium bodied. Solid entertaining cask stout with plenty going on.
