Necessary Evil is an imperial stout aged for 8 months in bourbon barrels. Aromas of sweet bourbon, vanilla and oak from the ageing process combine with rich chocolate, roasted malts and caramel from the base beer. Soft and silky, this full flavoured stout has layers of complexity and flavour unlike any other.

Bottle, almost no head whatsoever, very dark brown color, aroma of dark sour bread, dark honey and hints of bourbon and chocolate, flavor of sweet bitter chocolate, candied cherries, wood and vanila, quite sweet but not over the top, smooth silky mouth feel. Really good.

Appearance is very dark, no head to speak of. Aroma- lots of chocolate, coffee, vanilla, bourbon, caramel, roast malt, treacle toffee. Taste is caramel, chocolate, whisky fudge, toffee penny, more caramel, chocolate sauce, coffee, more chocolate, oaky vanilla whisky, molasses, dark malt, sticky and sweet, very sweet in fact. Rich chocolate sauce. Full and sticky mouthfeel, bit of booze in the finish. Unbelievably good stuff.

375ml bottle. Jet black colour with small to average, thick, frothy to creamy, moderately lasting, minimally lacing, beige head. Bourbon aroma, notes of caramel, dark caramel, oak, vanilla, hints of liquorice, widely disguised, dark malty background. Taste is sweet-ish, caramel and dark malty, quite boozy, Bourbon BA notes of caramel, dark caramel, oak and vanilla, hints of dark chocolate, some coffee and liquorice. Viscous texture, smooth and soft, slightly cloying palate. Pretty much relying on the Bourbon BA flavours, not overly complex in itself.

Bottle, danke Fin! Darkest brown low brown head. Rye bread and chocolate nose. Earthy sour dough, medium body, dusty, earthy, burned, vanilla oak - stil a bit too much for me but overall good.

Black with a minimal light brown head. Aroma of wooden barrel with some fruit and caramel notes. Sweet with a warm wooden barrel ending. Some alc. Sense, but with a wooden barrel sense. Like
