Can from The Davis Beer Shoppe. Pours dark brown with a substantial creamy dark tan head. Aroma of roasty malt with a chocolate note. Med body or so. It's not dry, but hardly sweet. Roasty malt bitter. A little earthy. Definitely chocolate. Think it hits the style.

On tap at the brewery. Pours black with an earthy chocolate brown head that dissipates to the edges. Aroma has earthy roasted malts and bitter dark grains with a hint of dark chocolate underlying. Flavor has a nice roast and earthy dark grain with a hint of chocolate in the finish.

One of my favorite styles, maybe my favorite. Pours a pitch black hue with a medium beige head. A big roast and coffee nose. Sweet, but not overly so, some light vanilla, soft palate, nice roast. Very good. A bit sweeter than I'd prefer, but very good.
