Sampled @ the Elsenwang brewpub. Big thanks to Helena and Hübert for driving us here! Small if lacey whitish head over dull ochre beer. Islay malt a mile out, as well as some citrus notes creeping through. Again Islay malt in the mouth, whisky, and again a tad citrus/orange. Very syrupy feel, medium to good carbonation which lightens the MF a bit. Any Islay malt aficionado would be satisfied. The beer was nicknamed hidden whisky beer, but I utterly fail to understand the "hidden"...

Trüb bernsteinfarben mit weißer Schaumkrone. Prägnant süßer, an Whisky erinnernder, torfiger Geruch. Geschmacklich malzig, torfig mit alkoholischer Whiskeynote. Hohe Süße mit leichter Bitterkeit, voller Körper mit sanfter Kohlensäure.

Edition 2017 in ceramic bottle; hazy orange-ish amber colour, practically no head at all; aroma of dried apricot, smokey-peated, whisky, soy sauce, definite yeasty, caramel and intensive spicy alcoholic notes; taste is dominated by spicy alcohol, syrupy-apricot jam, smokey and some whisky notes; very hard to drink due to the high and not really hidden alcohol and the syrupy sweetness

500 ml. ceramic jug with swing-top sampled. Waxed bro! 2016 Edition. Clear amber orange, head fizzes away. Nose is awful like gasoline mixed with caramel oxidized Christmas spices & peated for some baffling reason, fusels & fish oil, beef jerky syrup. Carbonation is fading, near flat watered down hard liquor gasoline, watery very oxidized candy & the inexplicable peated profile makes it worse neither sherry nor bourbon is peated or did they mean ex-sherry + ex-bourbon + ex-peated whisky or something? Sweet oxidized watery gasoline fish oil tasting, finish is peated, flat Coca-Cola, spoiled Christmas spices, fusels, gasoline, beef jerky, meat drippings, myoglobin. Tastes like hobo fun juice & it was stupidly expensive, looked at the wrong price-tag at the moment. I am not amused here.

Bottle shared by Kolschtrinker in Kosovo, many thanks. Clear amber, no foam. Nose: woody sweet caramel. Mouth: not that rich for a beer which claims to be a barley wine, some alcohol, watery.

Alkoholisch trockener Antrunk, erstaunlich wenig alkoholisch, denoch natürlich scharf, die Whiskynoten sind angenehm, das Bier halbwegs rund. Feine Karbonisierung, erdiger Nachhall. 8/9/9/9/11/9

0,1l from tap at Craft Bier Fest Wien, shared by Cuso & Gurthnar, thanks. copper hazy color, small off-white head. smells strong of peat, earthy, smoke. ok, too much peat for me. full body, soft carbonation, slick mouthfeel. tastes quite sweet, peat, alcohol, wood, spices. finishes with peat, alcohol and sweetness. hmm, decent stuff, too much peat on the smell, taste was ok because the peat gets countered by a lot of sweetness, makes it more drinkable. overall good.
