Vila Morena

Dark brown with a full creamy head. Aroma of chocolate and herb. Flavour is bitter fruit, nuts and grain, strong body and flavour.

On tap. A murky amber beer with a white head. Aroma of resinous bitter hops, grapefruit, tangerine. Taste of grapefruit, zest, fresh citrusy hops, resinous hops.

Tap @ Cerveteca Lisboa. Pours dark fuzzy brown, good off-white head. Aroma is citrussy pine, some grainy malt. Smooth on the palate, light citrus hop with additional nutty grain moments, overall not hugely hoppy but seems well balanced and drinkable.

Review based on the BJCP2015 guidelines (style 34B -21A/13B). Bottle 33 cl - Batch VM040418 (BBF 11/2018). AROMA: medium hop aroma with a citrus note and slight pine, followed by a low malt profile (slight toffee/caramelly). APPEARANCE: dark ambar color with ruby body against light. clear. medium beige head with average retention. TASTE: initial medium hop flavor (pine, grapefruit), followed by a low malt character (toffee-like), medium to medium-high bitterness with a dry and bitter finish. hop balanced. PALATE: medium-low body with medium carbonation. OVERALL: an "india brown ale" nice to drink altough the malt could be a bit more prominent, resulting in a more balanced beer.

Dark brown colour with lasting head. Aroma is intense with bitter citrus pith and resinous hop. Flavour is similar. Fairly light bodied. Only in the finish does the hoppy citrus pith subside allowing a little dark malt to come through.
