Keg @ Cafe Sara, Oslo. Pours dark with tan head. Nutty cocoa aroma. Taste has some initial green apple and nutty vanilla / marzipan notes that’s a bit offputting and hard to persist with. One more sip, and well, something not quite right with this.

Draught @ Sundbytunet, Jessheim
Pours dark brown with a tan head. Aroma has notes of roasted malt, cooked vegetable, green apples, chocolate and caramel. Taste is medium sweet and light to medium bitter with a long roasted finish. Body is medium, texture is thin to oily, carbonation is soft.

On tap @ Crowbar. A near black one with a small lacing off-white head. On the nose there is alcohol, dark sweet chocolate, bourbon (!?), wood and lots of dark fruits. I have to say it smells really good this thing! It's about average on the carbonation with those small prickling bubbles. Good oily mouthfeel. Lots of the same thing going on in the taste as in the aroma: I get chocolate, cocoa, vanilla, and some white chocolate. It's really nice this! 01.03.2013

Many thanks to Frank for a large sample of this one, nicely served in a snifter glass at the microbrewery. A firm, beige head covering a deep, ruby-red body. Fine lacework to the glassware. Aroma of dark fruits joined by a mild roastiness. Cocoa-like malts in flavour well balanced with red and dark fruits. Long-lived finish. A well-made, smooth and tasty ale (Jessheim, 08.05.2012).

On tap @ the brewpub. Dark brown body, close to black with a small, dense off-white head. Very nice aroma of dark malt, coffee and chocolate. Flavor is sweet, medium roasted malt, some coffee and dark chocolate. Moderate bitterness. Fine body and a nice aftertaste where the bitterness is more present. Smooth and very drinkable.

On tap at the brewpub. It pours a dark brown body under a beige head. Coffee and chocolate, some roasted malts and a hint of licorice. Soft and full-bodied on the palate. Lightly roasted, with chocolate and some chocolate and coffee notes. Full body, really smooth. Lasting finish. A really nice one, tasteful and well suited for relaxing times in your favorite chair. 120505
