We've only gone and brewed up Death.
An imperial stout at an almighty 12%. Well balanced with rich, decadent chocolate reigning supreme. Blackcurrant and berry notes in the aroma with a touch of plum lingering in the background. It's the stout you need in your life, unlike it's namesake, you'll want to invite this one in.

440ml can. Jet black colour with small, creamy, half-way lasting, minimally lacing, tan head. Sweet-ish, chocolately, dark malty aroma with biscuity and doughy yeasty touch, notes of toffee, chocolate, couverture, chocolate sauce, a touch of dark caramel, chocolate cookies. Taste is dry and bitter, sweet-ish, roasty and chocolately, dark malty, notes of toffee, chocolate, dark caramel, some liquorice; superbly hidden alcohol. Creamy, viscous texture, smooth, soft, silky, minimally cloying palate, very fine, soft, minimally prickly carbonation. Liquid dark toffee in a can.

Black as true night, bit of light brown foam. Smells roasty. Smooth mouthfeel. Taste is roasty coffee up front, with a bit of sweet chocolate. Aftertaste is tons of licorice, more coffee, a hint of christmas fruit. Lingers for days. Gorgeous classical.

Imperial stout by this modern craft brewery in Leeds; at Bar Beenhouwer, Ghent. Thin, pale greyish beige, open head lacing in dots over a black beer with a thin burgundy edge, not more than a millimetre or so. Aroma of hot chocolate sauce made with cognac, melting toffee, coffee liqueur, cold Irish coffee, wet leather, bayleaf, toasted walnuts, brownies, gin. Sweet onset in a condensed way, candied cherries, figs, light gravy-like umami touch, medium carb, slick and oily, thick mouthfeel; toffeeish and caramelly malt sweet body with a bitter-chocolatey edge, but refraining from going into full-fledged roasted bitterness. Herbal tea-ish and spicy hop accents and the expected warming glow of whisky-like alcohol round off the finish. Your textbook U.S. style imperial stout in the year 2019 – no complaints here, but every once in a while, I’d love to see this genre in a less sweet effectuation and with more roasted bitterness, like in the old days…
