Cask @ Montgomery’s Tower, Shrewsbury. Pours gold with small bubbly head. Aroma is lightly sweet. Taste is smooth toffee with a nice rounded sweetness. Definitely the best of Chapels range I’ve tried so far.

Hand-pulled half-pint in Montgomery Towers, a Wetherspoons in Shrewsbury on 27th Jan 2014. Dull old gold/amber in colour with a white wisp for a covering. Dark hedgerow fruit, wild berries sort of smell, add an apple that has been stewed in malty molasses for a week and you’ve just about got the true aroma. The taste isn’t as fruity as the nose indicated, the malts in take over without really giving the same intensity of fruitiness. The finish is actually quite dry and bitter. Different and most enjoyable.
