On tap at Brewdog Roppongi. Amber with a medium head. Aroma and taste of hops, citrus, some light spices and malt. A decent one.

Belgian soapiness. Nice malt. Good bitterness and easy drinking. Slight sharpness.

Bottle care of Tokyobeerdrinker. Thanks Neil! Pours a clear copper with a full finger of off-white foam that lingers. Lemongrass, lime and light coriander notes on the nose. Peppercorn, clove and light biscuit on the palate. Peppery yeast finish.

Bottle from Yamaoka. Sightly funky, spicy Belgian yeast in the nose, with bready malt, lemon, some stone fruits. Medium amber-orange, effervescent, with a low, thick head. Clear. Rich bready malt with a touch of honey and caramel, spicy, funky yeast. Finish is quite bitter and funky. Interesting stuff, but not really IPA-like at all.

I found out today that Ise Kadoya just released a second winter IPA called Snowsmile I think. Ise Kadoya 8 Reindeers IPA 6% Belgian-style IPA made with Kadoya-1 natural yeast. Orange-amber in color with a thick beige head of foam with a fruity red berry type aroma and a peppery spicy Belgian yeast aroma. Full bodied with a sharp carbonic finish. This flavor has lots of Belgian spice character, some biscuit malt and citrus berry notes. A great example of the style, I’m really digging it.
