Pours like coffee, fairly thick, molasses and bourbon on the nose. Sweet, smooth, lots of bourbon, caramel, chocolate, some roast. Excellent.

Dark pour with a tan head. Huge bourbon notes, toffee, dried fruit, soft oak, vanilla. Soft mouthfeel, full body. Excellent stuff.

330ml bottle. Heavy, roasty and sweetish with loads of bourbon, oak, booze, coffee, chocolate, vanilla and malty notes. Dry and roasty, quite burnt for a barley wine. Feels almost like an imperial stout with all the roastiness. A bit stingy and rough.

33cl bottle, Pikkulintu Ruttopuisto. Poured pitch black in color, light tan head. Fairly sweet with massive amount of bourbon and wood. Malty and bourbony, bit edgy and sharp perhaps. Finishes more soft with some raisin. Full bodied.

Bottle at Dorst. Almost black with small tan head. Huge bourbon, roasted malts, soft alcohol, dark chocolate, vanilla, fudge, creamy boozy barley wine notes. Quite sweet and boozy bitter. Full bodied with boozy finish. Quite nice with good bourbon but also quite boozy.

Semi opaque dark brown beer, small tan head. Smooth palate, semi dry, a slight viscosity, decent fine carbonation. Smooth dark malts, a modest creamy sweetness. Smooth rich fruity bourbon, really spot on bourbon delivery. Touch of oak induced vanilla and savoury wet wood. Smooth and slightly spicy finish. This black barleywine really sits on that intersection with a BBA Impy. If you tasted this blind..... maybe a vague caramel tone would give it away... Rich and bloody easy drinking for its near 15% abv
