St-Feuillien Quadruple is a very dark and dense beer. She is noticeably alcoholic. She distinguishes herself by a complex and finely caramelized aroma and with shades of Madeira wine and candied fruit and an intense touch of fermentation esters (banana type). A slight hoppy smell (English style) completes the whole. The mouth is long with a powerful body built on the density and generous apparent extract. The bitterness is present but sweet and blends harmoniously with the malty struc- ture. The selection of special malts raises the chocolate side with the nuances of coconut. The saturation is average.

33 cl. bottle @ home, bought @ Coop Culemborg.
Dark brown with a tan head. Dark caramel aroma with some raisin and plum. Sweet taste with a sweet finish. Good quadrupel but perhaps just a bit too sweet.

Very good understated quadruple. Both aromas and flavors are toffee and caramel malt with some fruit. On the sweet side but nicely balanced with carbonation and a little bitter. Excellent body and finish. Great sipping beer.

Bouteille 33cl, BB 27/01/2023.

The 33 cl bottle of Quadrupel in my hand was part of a long awaited and anticipated package from the good folks at belgiuminabox. A sincere thanks. Quads are relatively difficult to acquire in the wilds of west Texas, glad to have this one. The lid is lifted and I tilt into my Bruges-purchased Straffe Hendrik tulip glass. The burnished mahogany body carries a light top of straw colored foam. I like the scent, dark raisins, full grain bread and stewed prunes. A sip and then a full drink. This is is a very good brew. Dates, cane syrup, pecans, black cherries, malt and gingerbread. Thick and chewy and sweet. Sort of like a fruitcake only much better. Sometimes a surprise is of the good kind.

Bottle from Belgiuminabox. Pours a murky dark chestnut brown colour with a large thick creamy beige head. Aromas of dry dark fruits, caramel, roasted malts, light liquorice, molasses and alcohol. Taste has more dry dark fruits, liquorice, molasses, alcohol and some added chocolate and vinous notes. Average carbonation, full bodied with a slick and sticky mouthfeel. A nice winter sipper.

Bottle from Firefly, Vancouver; bb Jan 2023, so it's probably 6 months old
Dark amber/brown colour with very generous head. At first, the aroma is quite estery. there is malt, light coriander and light aniseed, bubblegum. It's full bodied, quite sweet, but with decent balance given by the alcohol; the malt flavour is rich enough for the style, it's quite fruity, the bitterness is modest but suitable for the style, and there is just a bit of alcohol warmth in the finish.
Pretty enjoyable, good to be back to some classic Belgian once in a while.
