Blurring the line between coffee and beer, our Coffee Porter treats the taste buds to a decadent romp in chocolate-covered espresso beans. Through careful selection and much experimentation, we synched up with local coffee roasters to create this exceptional brew.
Each barrel of beer is loaded with over five pounds of fresh coffee, enhancing the notes of dark chocolate, roasted malt and its native coffee character. This unexpectedly crisp and refreshing dark porter is equally satisfying on a bold winter night or a lazy summer day.
Indulge in the rich duality of Coffee Porter and let Smog City stir up your perception of "dark" beers.

Draft at Floating Taipei. Poured almost black in colour with a thin off white head. The aroma is roasty malt, big coffee. The flavour is liqourice bitter, with a smooth, roasty, dry ashtray, liqourice bitter palate. Over medium bodied with soft carbonation.

16 ounce can from Tavour. Barely translucent cola brown color. Large, firm tan head. Aroma of roasted malt, fresh brewed coffee and cacao powder. Lovely bittersweet essence of dark roasted coffee and chocolate malt. Soft on palate. The roasted malt and coffee characteristics are completely merged to produce a singular complexity of flavor. My two favorite beverages are married into one. Absolute heaven.

The aromas are old coffee, molasses, dark malt and black patent. Flavors are fairly smooth, nice balance between bitter, sweet and carbonation. Good body and a coffee cocoa bitter finish.

US Pint can at my daughters in Laguna Hills, California on 12th January 2022. Pretty dark brown, it's black really, on top a tanned foaming head. Coffee esters in the nose, the taste also coffee flavoured. Body wise it has a fairly slick and smooth feel, almost oily. Nice final beer of the night.

On tap at Smog City Taproom - Torrance, pours black with a small tan head. Aroma is loaded with freshly grounded coffee, with just enough roasted malt to provide support. Flavour is dry and fresh, with lots of freshly roasted unsweetened coffee. Dry and fresh coffee character. Excellent.

12 oz. bottle in trade with AirForceHops--thanks, Chris! Appearance is very, very dark brown (almost opaque black but can see light source directly behind) with nice sparkle at the edges of the glass, finger-width light brown foamy head with fair retention and mild soapy lacing. Aroma is strong, rich roasted coffee and dark chocolate with bitter offset--almost ashy. Taste is bittersweet coffee and chocolate (like a chocolate covered espresso bean) favoring the bitter, ashy side of roast. Mouthfeel is medium side of light-to-medium bodied with smooth, thick texture, soft carbonation and finish that's a little more mellow (less bitter) than the taste. Overall, aroma and taste are strong and rich but a bit further to the bitter side than I prefer. But, well made and those liking more bitterness in their coffee beers should like this.
