5 July 2019. At Dok Brewing Festival. Cheers to Anke & Ghent beer crew! Hazy dark brown with a lasting, very thin, foamy, tan head. Aroma of red wine, wood, caramel, red grapes, fondant, almond, leaves, port wine. Taste is medium fruity sweet, lots of red grapes, raisin, with an 'unripe' sourish berries character, almond & caramel underneath as well as some chocolate powder, touch of woody vanilla too. Dryish, tart, woody finish, faint herbal hops, subtle red wine-like alcohol. The wine element fits well into the Porter, not overwhelming but certainly a nice sipper.

As the name says, an imperial porter aged on red wine barrels, by a brewery in Spanish Basque country. Thick and creamy, yellowish beige, stable head, black robe with thin mahogany edge. Aroma of bitter chocolate, toffee, toasted walnut, clear red wine, old oak wood, tawny port, wet leather. Sweetish onset, dried fig, raisins and a sourish effect not unlike blueberries, very light umami accent, softish carb, full and somewhat creamy mouthfeel; walnutty, toffeeish and bitter-chocolatey malt bittersweetness dried by early and quite outspoken red wine tartness and tannic woody dryness, with port-, earth- and leather-like aspects in the finish. Not sure what the below rater’s problem with this beer is, perhaps wine barrel aging on a porter or a stout doesn’t work for anyone and its typical tart, grapey and earthy effects are certainly present here, but given that this was the intention, I think this is quite well executed, though perhaps a bit crude around the edges. Would happily revisit from a bottle if I would ever encounter it again.

5/VII/19 - on tap @ DOK Beer Festival (Gent), BB: n/a - (2019-957) Thanks to all my beer friends for sharing today's beers!
Clear red brown beer, nice creamy beige head, little stable, bit adhesive, leaving a nice lacing in the glass. Aroma: funky, infected, little dirty, spicy, some cinnamon. MF: ok carbon, medium body. Taste: dry, bitter, bit metallic, sourish, red wine notes, lots of tannins. Aftertaste: bitter, dry, tannins, decent. And not infected after all.
