The name speaks for itself, the brewing process a lot less. For our latest offspring we used a unique yeast that ensures that no alcohol is produced. The Citra provides a fruity taste as a basic bishop and makes the Nada slightly less bitter than a traditional IPA.
Result: a fantastic tasty fruity thirst quencher !

Fles thuis geprobeerd met LiekevdV. Het is een helder oranje bruin bier met een medium schuimkraag. Het heeft een fruitige en hoppige geur. De smaak is zacht, citrus achtig met een hoppige afdronk.

Bottle sourced from lowalcohol.dk and drunk at home (27/01/2021) - hazed golden yellow with a white head. Citrus fruity notes of lemon and orange, touch of grapefruit, medium sweet intro, light malty backing and light bodied, crisp balanced bitter hoppy into the close. Not bad.

Bottle from Geers. Light hazy blond, white foam. Nose of citrus, grass, some tropical fruit. Taste starts nice citrussy with afterwards some cardboard. Ok, but not the best low alcohol beer.

Pale blond colour with light haze. Aroma and flavour do have some sweeter tropical fruit notes. Thin finish like with all alcohol free beers but really has a nice lasting bitter aftertaste. Very well made.

Alcohol-free IPA, launched in January and brewed at the Proefbrouwerij. The brewery seems to claim it is the first non-alcoholic IPA, but in reality it is not even the first one in Belgium (considering e.g. BBP's Pico Bello - at the same ABV - was on the market three months earlier). Light gusher, weirdly so, never seen that in an non-alcoholic beer... Quite thick and frothy, tightly cobweb-lacing, snow white, mousy, stable head on a hazed yellow blonde beer with greenish tinge and some loose bubbles rising upwards every now and then. Aroma of lemon bread, raw dough, plaster, withering shallots, baking soda, banana peel, whiffs of lime zest, white hand soap, cold cooked rice, lemongrass, industrial lemon juice from a plastic bottle. Sweetish and sourish onset, light pineapple, unripe banana and green apple notes, fizzy carbonation, very soapy mouthfeel, effervescent tablet effect, but admittedly feeling 'fuller' than expected at only 0.3% ABV. A lemony aspect, sourish and simplistic so feeling artificial, accompanies this doughy, soapy cerealliness to a still very, very soapy ending (the kind of lemon-scented detergent I do the dishes with sometimes), adorned with some retronasal pineapple, lime and lemon aspects, while a soft, late hop bitterness manifests itself - gently so, and paired with a wry,medicine- and very plaster-like aspect many of these modern non-alcoholic beers seem to have - a feature that manages to put me off every single time. Luckily that hop bitterness lingers a bit. In comparison with BBP's Pico Bello, which has a very similar profile, this one is more 'plaster-like' and less convincingly hoppy - which is the least they could have done, considering it is marketed as an IPA. Not such a bad attempt, in all, but if I ever have to stop consuming alcohol for medical reasons or whatever, I hope this low alcohol beer hype will be over and I will turn to beverages that are intended as non-alcoholic instead.

20/IV/20 - 33cl bottle from De Hopduvel (Gent), shared @ home, BB: 25/IX/20 (2020-353)

Clear blond to orange beer, big creamy dense white head, very stable, adhesive, leaving a nice lacing in the glass. Aroma: lots of tropical fruits, passion fruits, pineapple, citrus notes, wort, metallic touch very typical for non-alcoholic beers, bit floral. MF: ok carbon, medium to light body. Taste: little watery, nice and fruity, bit juicy, citrus notes, passion fruit, candied orange peel, tangerines, bit sweet and sugary. Aftertaste: soft bitterness, bit sweet, fruity, nice bitterness, metallic finish, tangerines, some tropical fruits, good for a NA beer!!

Pours blonde, medium white head. Smell has no real hoparoma ( IPA ??? ) bit bready. Taste starts a bit bitter, than quickly fades in a sweet, wort-like, typical no alcohol base. Rather unpleasant. No hoparoma, at all. Use of citra hop ? how many cones ? Hyped up as ' the first No alcohol IPA ( which is far from the truth for multiple reasons ) but this is very shamefull as an attempt to an no-alcohol beer anno 2020, as well as both a style IPA and a beer from a brewery that used to make really good hoppy beers ( imperial remains a favorite from Belgium … )
Skip, avoid, replace, and move on...
