Bottle from Main Market Co-op. Medium golden with small frothy head. Light grainy aroma, hops come in with bitterness, caramel malts, hint of sweetness. Straightforward IPA

Bomber from Tavour. Pours gold with an awesome near-white head. Tropical fruits aroma. Med body. Flavor is mixed fruits with some slightly roasted caramel. Fairly dry. Pretty hoppy. Nicely bitter. A slight bite from the hops. Aftertaste goes a bit earthy. Don't know why this isn't rated more highly.

Bomber. Pours a clear orange color with a medium white head. A light fruity hop nose. The flavor is big biscuit, oranges, tea, some citrus zest. Smooth and easy.

Golden copper with a white head. A simple citrus and pine forward IPA. Very relaxed profile. Balanced with a little cracker malt. A refreshing and easy going IPA. Something I’d pick up in a six pack for a weekend by the lake.

Sampled from the tap at Chuck’s Hopshop 85th. Pours a clear gold with a white head that dissipates to the edges and laces slightly. Aroma has a nice pine hop note with notes of resin, grass and light grain supporting. Flavor has same pine note with grass, sweet grains and a hint of resin underlying.

On draught at Pine Box. The beer is a reddish-amber color with a medium off-white head that diminishes gradually to a dense film. Partial rings of lacing on the glass. Citrus, hops and malt in the nose. Medium body with flavors of grapefruit, herbal hops and biscuit malt. The finish is mildly bitter with a short fruity hops aftertaste. Decent overall.

Draft pour at Chucks CD. I was really excited to try this one for one reason or another. First sip, and my initial thought was "yuck". This is a reaction that I never get with beer. Ever. Ever. Oily caramel golden pour with almost no head. Boozy aroma with a hop presence. Flavor is spoiled like. Dank, spoiled hops if I had to label it. It tastes like an IPA that has gone bad. Semi forgiving palate, with promising lingering character. Despite being fresh, his tastes to me like an IPA that was only good when fresh, and it’s a year past it’s prime. Has a semi all character. I feel bad, and I hate to put down any brewery, let alone one I love, but this was a total mulligan for me. UPDATE: A year later, gave this another shot. Now that the Dark Heron series is becoming a hit, I felt it was fair. Calling this the Expressive IPA, now that the Dark Heron became a beer series. Thick, malt body. Extremely imperial tasting for a modest-ish IPA. Earthy. Much better than my first try, but still, I don’t care much for this offering.
