Occidental's take on the lager style that changed the beer world forever. This is a largely Bohemian-style pilsner with a bit of a Bavarian pedigree. Crisp, clean and dry. Czech hops crown this beautiful beer.

16 oz can from Pilgrim’s. Pours clear golden with a thick pillowy white head with excellent retention. Aroma is grainy, chalky candy, a bit lemony, basic pils. Taste is sweet and grainy, finishing with a light noble hop bitterness. Authentic--really tastes like it could be from the Czech Republic. A little too sweet for me, though.

On Tap Clear golden bright white head quickly dissipating. Light pale grain body, plenty of bitter noble hop flavors. A little slick and smooth. Not particularly dry.

Crystal clear golden with a tall white head. Very light aroma with some wet cereal grains. Flavor follows along with hardly any character at all. Thin body. Slight earthy crisp finish. Would be a great tailgate brew or summer refresher. Not a lot going on.

Tin. Worth Coming back to rate. Lekker hop aroma, but restrained. This is NOT a hop bomb. Pilsner taste, nicely bitter with a good malt backbone. Lively body, bubbles well even when tinned. Golden with a snow white head. Well worth seeking out. Saraveza in Portland has it. I’ll have to go to Occidental’s taproom to drink it at the urquell.

Tap at Back Pedal. Pours a clear yellow with small white head leaving sticky lacing. The aroma is skunk, grass, hay. Medium mouth, wheat grass, grain, light bitterness, good.

On tap at Stateside Craft, pours a clear pale copper yellow with a small white head. Aroma smells authentic enough, with dry grains and grassy hops. Flavour is fairly bland, even for a pilsner, but brewed to style, with lots of grains and subtle grassiness. Not the most exciting pils, but drinkable and well-balanced. Not bad.

Draught at Alibi Room, Vancouver
10oz
Blond color, seems hazy, with small head, but nice lace. Aroma of cereals, corn husks, a bit stale. Smooth mouthfeel, almost round; a bit too sweet and without malt crispness; fairly strong bitterness but no clear sign of noble hop. The final too is sweetish, and with light fruitiness.
Funny because at the bar it’s described as Euro-pils, while it’s rather American-pils instead.
