Bottle from Speciaalbierpakket. Aroma is salty liquorice, caramel, roasted malt, notes of coffee and dark chocolate, but the liquorice is overpowering. Sweet flavour with a fairly roasty bitter finish. Body is medium. Too heavy on the sweet liquorice for my taste.

ABV: 8.6%. Clear dark dark brown colour with a average to large, frothy, good lacing, mostly lasting, off-white head. Aroma is moderate malty, roasted, chocolate, dark malt, sweet malt. Flavor is moderate to heavy sweet and bitter with a long duration, roasted, dark malt, chocolate - coffee, tobacco - ash. Body is light to medium, texture is oily to watery, carbonation is soft, finish feel is warming and light light alcoholic. [20190925]

Caña en vivalabirra Oviedo 20..11..2019. Color negro intenso con espuma beige oscuro que desaparece al poco tiempo casi por completo. Sabores intensos maltosos tostados suaves y finos con buena dosis de cacaos y café también finos. Cuerpo medio a intenso con buena sensación alcohólica desde el principio y bastante sabor. Fino, sedoso y espumoso. Una buena sorpresa, bastante buena, para repetir sin duda.

Bottle from the 2019 Bedford Beer Festival. Dark brown, opaque l, beige ring of head. Sweet, mainly aroma with notes of filter coffee. Sweet, slightly spicy, with lots of blackberry near to the finish. Decent amount of carbonation. Quite nice actually.

Si cette North n'est pas mauvaise, il lui manque tout de même un complément d'âme pour être vraiment intéressante. J'ai personnellement en tout cas du mal à m'emballer pour ces arômes de chocolat, noisette agrémentés de pointes de café et d'herbes relativement simple et sans relief. En verre, avec 83 d'EBC, le brun est foncé, quasiment noir. Aucune mousse à la surface. Le nez est sur le chocolat, la noisette avec un léger café et une touche d'épices. En bouche, si la corpulence ezt honnête, la texture trop fine est dommageable. L'attaque est quelque peu aqueuse avec de légers arômes de chocolat et noisette. C'est véritablement en seconde bouche que la bière s'exprime le mieux. Sur une bonne ampleur et une bonne intensité, on retrouve les arômes présents au nez avec des épices plus présentes et une pointe herbacée. L’arrière-bouche, est moins intéressante, avec un alcool à 8,6% se dégageant légèrement et des arômes simples de chocolat et caramel. Globalement, l'alcool est tout de même un peu faiblard, ou pas assez efficace plutôt. Le final, s'il est sur une longueur appréciable est sur une amertume épurée (47 d'IBU avec utilisation de Brewers Gold) un brun de chocolat et de café. Le travail sur le malt n’est ici clairement pas assez poussé avec comme résultat une bière plate.

Tap @ NBFD. Almost black. Malt and licorice in the aroma. Malty sweet caramelly flavor, velvety. Full bodied. Licorice in the finish. Nice.

On tap at the Scrapyard. Medium creamy beige head. Clear almost black pour. Lots of chocolate.

Very dense & thick cream to beige head over red-shot black beer. Coffee, mocha, I Café Noire /I cookies, vanilla beans, smelling very sweet. A bit less sweet in the mouth, still lots of vanilla & mocha, bit tonkabeans, coffeecream, sweet but roasted nuts, cocos. Thick body, velvety-voluptuous, and a bit sticky. Too sweet for my taste.

Bottle from Dorst, Den Haag. Poured a clear dark brown colour with a frothy tan head. The aroma is roasty caramel malt, chocolate, liqouirce, light dry coffee. The flavour is moderate sweet light liquorice bitter with a rich, roasty, liqouirce charcoal, light sweet chocolate palate. Medium to full bodied with lively initial conversation.
