Liquid cake. That’s exactly what this is. It has all the complexities of your dark holiday favorites. Thick, creamy, vanilla, chocolate, coconut… and cinnamon of course. Cinnamon that really ties the beer together. Festive!
Magnus here at the brewery had been toying around with the idea for a cinnamon stout for quite some time before we brewed this one. There’s something really intuitive about putting cinnamon in a dark beer. Even in theory, it just seems to work. Turns out, it works in practice too. We backed up the cinnamon with some cocoa, vanilla and coconut. To really build and layer the flavors. We think this is a year round holiday beer. If that makes any sense.

(330ml bottle from Systembolaget) Pours very deep brown with a small fading pale tan head. Aroma of baked buns, saffron, light cinnamon, toasty nutty malt, vanilla, soapy herbs, spicebox, soft chocolate, odd. Flavour is moderately sweet dark sugary malt, some cinnamon, gingerbread, nutty roast, toasted grain, vanilla cream, some alcohol heat in a drying, somewhat spiced, moderately bitter finish. Below medium-bodied, slick, fairly low carbonation. Not bad, but I was expecting something a little fuller than this. Felt as much like a brown ale as a stout to me.

Svart utan skum. Skarp lukt av våt målarfärg. Påtaglig kanelsmak med arrak och alkohol i bakgrunden.

Tap@M&F Scando TTO, Copenhagen (10/05/2018) - pours black with a beige head. Sweet and a tad roasted malty with opulent sweet chocolate, some caramel and vanilla, lots of spice going on, full body, spiced dark malty finish.

Sampled @ Festival Dobrego Piwa Wroclaw 2018. A almost black beer with a small beige head. Aroma of liquorice, strong dark malt. Taste of sweet strong dark malt, liquorice, vanilla, sugar.

Fra fat på Hopyard (Mathallen Oslo), mai-18: mørkebrun med fint beige skum som varer. Innsmigrende duft av kanel, cappuccino, kokos og sjokoladekake. Fløyelsmyk smak med Sachertorte i tillegg til nevnte elementer. Et farlig godt dessertøl med super balance og uvanlig stor munnfylde. Elegant bitterhed i afslutningen.
