Bottle (thanks marduk). Pours amber. Aroma is sweet, rubber, vanilla, malt. Flavor is sweet, bitter, sour, dryness, malt, fruits, rubber. Finish is dry. Overall: ok.

Alvinne's 2017 winter beer, shared with Goedele. Irregular, pale greyish white, coarse, large-bubbled but stable and lightly lacing head over an initially almost clear, ruddy, translucent bronze beer with warm mahogany red-brown hue; turns misty and eventually cloudy with sediment. Aroma of peppermint leaves, star aniseed, Glühwein, cloves, nutmeg, moldy nut shells, glue, dried orange peel, caramel, sherry, fresh fig, old wrinkled apples, hints of toffee, shoe polish, dried blackcurrant berries, wet hay, medlar, raw chestnut, persimmon, curdled milk, indeed some background calvados and wet wood but rather overwhelmed by the spiciness. Sweetish onset, lots of fresh fig, apple juice, marmelade, with almost equally strong sour(ish)ness around it, hinting at blueberries, gooseberry, blue grapes and rhubarb, but remaining soft; carbonation is soft, resulting in a slick, supple, lean mouthfeel, feeling thinner than expected from an 11% ABV beer. Caramelly malt body, sweet basis but dried by the same light sourishness that continues; strong ethereal, almost cough syrup-like spiciness comes up in the end, very clove-, mint- and anise-like and almost overpowers the rest of the finish, which does contain a good deal of woody tannins and warming, recognisably calvados- and sherry-like alcohol, which also brings some glueish solvents. Residual 'brown sugary' sweetness sticks a bit after all this, as does the bittersweet nutmeg and clove spiciness. The grapey tartness lingers as well, but mildly so. Too spicy and solventy for me, as a Belgian I had my share of overly spicy winter beers I guess, but interesting nonetheless, with the wood aged part integrated in a subtle, elegant way. I assume that age can improve this beer a lot - should probably have waited a year or so - if only to soften the solvent effects and the pharmaceutical effect of the spices. Weird one, not Alvinne's forte, this style, but still glad I bought one of the 420 bottles.

Bottle from Deconinck. Hazy amber colour, white foam. Nose of orange peel, spices (cinnamon, even some ginger?). Taste is light tart, woody, sweet, green apples. Ok, maybe a bit too young.

Keg at Pressklubben, Stockholm. Cloudy brownish amber, rich creamy head. Intense aroma of ice cider and sherry. Sweet with full body and rounded mouthfeel. Fruity with solid bready malt, calvados and woody ice cider. Peppery warming finish. Elegant and vinous, yet intense.

75 cl bottle. Pours hazy orange, small off white head. Aroma is sage and slight herbal. Soapy. Sweet. Sliced. Toasted malt. Caramelish. Mild herbal and sweet finish.

Thanks for sharing! Sampled 750 ml. bottle @ Kerstbierfestival 2017. Limited to 420 bottles. Dark orange amber, only a few bubbles. Nose is cloves orange peel, gluhwine spices almost with oily orange peel syrup & sherry syrup,…. Bit watery with orange peel, candy sherry, Turkish delight, orange syrup, almost like a Christmas market drink of sorts in an interesting way,… Strange but appealing interesting beer, orange peel syrup body.

thnx to 90 ! Pours unclear brown/amber, small white head. Smell is cinnamon, boozy, mild fusel alcohols. Taste is full, light acidic touch( by the barrel, I assume ) woody, some dark, yet not roasted, maltyness. Medium thick MF, low to medium low carbo. Tad sweet, bit boozy.
