Sampled at Zythos Beer Festival 2018 as Berry Berry (Brambles & Vanille). Dark brown color. Aroma of cocoa, berries, vanilla. Taste is fruity vanilla

One of the new fruit beers by Broers, at Goeste in Ghent, from a 75 cl bottle. Vanilla-flavoured blackberry beer, apparently, sounds interesting. Immediately opening, loose, off-white to pale beige-ish, moussy ring of thin foam over a hazy mahogany-hued dark bronze beer. Aroma of a lot of blackberry jam and ripe blackberry juice, caramel, soggy bread, stewed plums, apple sauce, pear, touch of hazelnuts and some vague DMS (overcooked green cabbage – alas) but hardly any outspoken vanilla. Lively fruity onset due to a generous dose of actual blackberry with estery notes of pear and peach at its edges, sweet ripe blackberry juice with a sourish note, medium carbonated. Slick, bready malt backbone with caramel malt sweet core, accentuating the blackberry sweetness rather than its sourness; ends earthy, with a late, deeply buried hop bitterish accent, some retronasal DMS and bready yeastiness all still soaked in the blackberry juice, but as in the nose, the vanilla remains very, very subtle and hard to pick out. Too bad, I would have loved this aspect to be more pronounced – and the DMS less so… Good idea, in all, but could have a bit been better executed.

28/04/2018 – 10cl glass shared with an international ratebeer crew @ZBF2018 Brown colour with copper sides, medium head. Nose has some fruits, malts. Taste is dark malts, some fruit, caramel, bit thin.

Moderat malzig-säuerlicher Beginn. Laff würzig, wässriger Hintergrund, starke Karbonisierung. Beeren? 8/7/8/8//8

F: thin, tan, not long lasting. C: dark brown, hazy. A: fruity, bit cherries, toffee, caramel. T: vaguely fruity, chocolate, bit dried fruits, caramel, medium body and carbonation, too sweet, sample from bottle shared with Germany and BE RB crew @ ZBF 2018.

Hazy dark red with a lasitng, small, foamy, tan head; little lacing. Aroma of vanilla, blackberries & raspberries, jam, wood, herbs, black tea. It tastes light to medium fruity sour, hints of vanilla, and light hoppy/herbal bitter. Dry, herbal finish, a bit tart, some warming (fruit) jenever alcohol. Medium body, slick texture, lively carbonation. Somewhat messy.

Sampled @ Zythos Bier Festival 2018. A clear orange brown beer. Aroma of red fruits liquorice, sweet malt. Taste of liquorice, red fruits, red grapes.

Bottle. Hazy brown color with no head. Aroma is chocolate, phenolic, caramel, maybe berries... Taste is chocolate, herbal, vanilla, berries. Silky mouthfeel with medium carbonation. Drinkable.

Clear dark brown beer, small creamy beige head, little stable, non adhesive. Aroma: very malty, grains, caramel touch, soft roast, fudge. MF: lively carbon, medium body. Taste: lots of caramel, nice roast, dried fruits, bit acidic, soft bitterness. Aftertaste: bit sourish, metallic touch.

75 cl bottle. Pours hazy dark brown. Small tan head. Aroma is roasted dark malty. Phenolic and toasted malt. Mild fruity. Toasted. Dry fruity. Slight herbal and phenolic. Mellow. Slight fruity. Phnolic and toasted malt finish.
