Re-rating (previous 3.8) Review based on the BJCP2015 guidelines (style 21B-NEIPA). Bottle 33 cl - Batch L050402 (BBF 04/2021). AROMA: medium-high hop aroma with citrus notes (grapefruit), some pine, floral, and a background of medium malt (raw oatmeal-like). APPEARANCE: gold color and just slightly hazy. medium white head with good retention. TASTE: medium hop flavor with piny, lime and fresh-green notes. medium-low malt background with a balanced sweet component. medium to medium-high bitterness with a bitter and almost dry finish. PALATE: medium body with medium carbonation. silky. OVERALL: a nice NEIPA.

100 ml. draft @ Cerveteca Lisboa. I was actually accidently at the launch party of this beer which is the first New England IPA in Portugal! Weird but cool. Super fresh! Apparently this one wasn’t meant to be a true NEIPA but a hybrid of sorts but I didn’t fully understand why due to me not knowing Portuguese & some English hiccups. This one is brewed with oats. Hazy orange, little white. Nose is nice grainy bright dried orange peel, cheese low. Taste is chalky cheese, low powder, hint of cheese, lovely tasty orange peel & low cheese drinks, drinks lovely,… Good body. Bit like an old school West Coast IPA with low cheese hops, low oat body, doesn’t pop as much as you would expect but still very nice & definitely the best hoppy beer I tried from Portugal so far.
