Can@Zinc craftbar, Vasa. Black colour, small beige head. Aroma is chocolate, vanilla, some pear and mild alcohol tones to it. Flavour is chocolate, vanilla, some roast and mild strawberry and some pear tones.

Can 33 cl. Pours a syrupy, thick black with a small, light brown head. Intensely sweet vanilla and milk chocolate. Rich, sweet roast - stickingly sweet with a vague, underlying note of strawberry. No bitterness whatsoever. A sweet desert beer, that quickly gets cloying. 030623

Can. It pours a minimalistic beige head over a black body. Artificial, sugary aroma, with roasted malts, dark chocolate, vanilla and some pear, strawberry, alcohol and a strange vegetal touch. It's full bodied, sweet and softly carbonated, lightly warming, with an artificial, roasted flavor. Fruity, berryish and even more artificial. Some heavy caramel sauce. Lasting finish. Way too sweet and artificial this one. 230211

Can from Deconinck. Hazy black with a quickly thinning, dark beige head. Powerful aroma of strawberry ice cream, stewed pear, candied apple & date, chocolate sauce, vanilla custard, meringue, almond. Taste has very sweet date, apple & stewed pear in a chocolatey body with a nutty edge, apparent vanilla & strawberry accents as in actual ice cream almost. This sweetness does provoke a vague bubblegum effect retronasally, but a soft spicy bitterness provides slight balance. Sweet, malty finish, subtle peppery hops, not enough to counter the strawberry & chocolate sauce, ganache almost, and the whiff of phenolic pear. Warming liqueur-like alcohol (praline filling, Poire William) tops it off. Full body, oily texture, average carbonation. This almost takes the Pastry Stout to the next level, not only giving the impression that your Stout is a dessert, but actually presenting the dessert itself. It has to be said, though, that it lacks some roasted & hoppy balance, but in the end: a masterpiece.

Svart med lys brunt skum. Lukter mørk sjokolade, kaffe, engelsk lakris og vaniljekrem. Fyldig. Søt. Smaker noe salt lakris, syltetøy, vanilje og kaffe. Lang.

On tap. Last bar beer in Melbourne for six weeks? Went for a deep black insanely sweet number. All the flavours are there - choc, vanilla and pear for sure. Strawberry a little subdued. So very very sweet. But loads of fun.
