This batch of Double Shot was crafted in commemoration of the 500th brew on our 30 BBL Brewhouse in Monson. It was brewed not only to mark this celebratory occasion, but with the character of the current season in mind. Incorporating a blend of our favorite Indonesian and Colombian coffees, Batch 500 pours pitch black and decadently in the glass, emanating flavors and aromas of milk chocolate, dark fruit, and coffee mousse. It is wonderful and rich; perfect to enjoy as a digestif after a big holiday dinner. It is, in our opinion, an example of what is possible with careful selection of ingredients paired with focused brewing execution. Please enjoy this bottle fresh and use it as an opportunity to reflect on your own cherished moments.

Bottle, aged ~9 months, drunk 9/2/17.
Dark, ruby-tinted mahogany body with ebony overtones and a tan head atop that shows moderate retention. Clarity is undetermined.
Big fudge and roast notes jump forth, but it's not a gooey, sugary fudge, thankfully and light lactic acidity mixing with the roasted malts to add a boisterous dark fruit/vinous character, easily balances things. No alcohol or flaw and quite a good aroma strength.
In the mouth it's sweet initially as most double shots are, but dries out considerably, with acidity coming from both malt and lactose, I assume. Tons of vibrant, piquant dark berries balance the malt quite easily and a very tight carbonation aids concentrating everything in a highly flavorful finish. Vanilla, light liqueur-like character and chocolate-laced roast all persist.
Every double shot I have seems to be better than the last one and this one was no exception. Excellent and finally dry enough to be highly enjoyable.

Very pitch black color. Big sweet nose with lactose, roasted malt, coffee. Very rich. Full body, sweet mouth full of coffee, lactose and chocolate. Low carbonation, smooth. So well balance. Rich chocolate, Lactose and coffee finish longer forever. Awesome.

Bottle thanks to Brandon. Pours black with medium tan head leaving spotty lacing. The aroma is strong roast, dark chocolate, wood, vanilla. Medium body, rich malt, dark chocolate, vanilla, roast, nice bitter finish, very good.

Bottle, through a trade. Very dark, chestnut brown. Thin, dense, ring of tan head. Nose has milk chocolate. Fruit and nut chocolate. Fruity, tangy coffee bean. Some buttery, toasty malts. Behind all that there are fruity, vinous, cakey notes. Some vanilla rounds things up. Taste is tangy, vinous bitter, with loads of sticky fruit and coffee chocolate sweetness on the lips, by way of balance. Mouthfeel is soft and oily. Tooth coating stickiness. Sticky sweet on the finish, turning fruity and coffee grind bitter. Very nice.

Bottle very generously shared by Sean. Thanks again dude! It pours a very dark brown/black color with a tan head. The aroma smells like coffee ice cream with some dark chocolate and vanilla. Roasted with fresh coffee and sweet cream. The flavor is mind blowingly good with rich, dense coffee, mocha and hints of ice cream. It’s pretty sweet, but the complexity of the coffee character takes center stage. It has a soft, creamy mouth feel with no acrid roast or acidity. The coffee is massively intense with no off flavors of green pepper. This was so good. Without a doubt the best coffee beer I’ve ever had, and I love coffee beers.

Carbonatation faible, corps dense, huileuse.
