What it smells and tastes like: Aromatics of caramelized malt, dates, and Belgian yeast. Warm flavours of raisin, spice, and fresh plum on the palate, with a balancing dry finish.

on tap at Bellwoods.
Dry, malty, bready, and a lovely sweetness. Solid body, a little over active carb. Medium bitterness, and a dry malty sweet finish.

Cloudy brown pour, tan head. What you would expect from a unfiltered double. Nice aroma of sweet roasted malts, a little raisin, a touch of booze and bready yeast. Roasted malts, a decent balance in the sweetness and bitter, some dried fruit - plum and raisin, a little touch of yeast. Excellent showing for a dubbel.

(tap) hazy reddish brown colour with a small brown head; aroma of tobacco, lilies, some dried fruit; rich, balanced flavour with a short sour and longer light bitter finish

500mL bottle, sent from wilco (thanks a lot, Mike), pours an opaque dark mahogany with a medium beige head. Aroma brings ou toasted nuts, dried fruits, and Belgian yeast. Flavour brings out tart dark fruits, Belgian yeast, and toasted nuts. Really well-balanced, with a lightly tart, spicy finish. Good stuff.

500ml bottle from the brewery. Deep hazy brown pour with a big tan head that settles slowly. Nose is earthy yeast, caramel and toast with some light dark fruit and spice. Taste is sweet caramel and dried fruit and banana with quite a bit of spice appearing at the end. Medium slick mouth mouth with active carbonation.

Draught at the brewpub; 8.2% ABV
Dark brown color, with almost no head. The aroma is fruity (banana), and with a lot of candi sugar, and a hint of apples; been there. Good body strength; there is some caramel, chocolate, moderate sweetness, light fruitiness (banana), and some liquorice that is out of place; correct bitterness.
Overall, quite messy.

Hazy amber-brown. Not much head. Very fruity and perfumey aroma and phenols. Sweet and fruity with sticky sugars. Fairly intense. Probably, I would prefer this to be earthier and with deeper fruits.

Smells kind of like raisins. Some caramel, sweetness in the aroma. Good carbonation again. Taste has a little bit of sourness and bit of blackberry bitterness. Taste doesn’t have much sweetness, actually - which I appreciate. Bitter aftertaste lasts for a while. I think there’s some sort citrus peel taste as well. A great beer. Had a couple of these at Bellwoods.
