Creamy off white head stayed on a mahogany coloured still body. Liquorice, malt & spiced fruits aroma. Medium bodied, smooth, creamy & clean on the back. Liquorice, malt, chocolate, raisin & berry tastes with a tangy fruity finish. Nice one.

Bottle from Open All Hours, Keswick. Mildly murky brown with no head. Traditional and pleasant dark ale with a tasty mix of malts, never too stated but always drinkable with a light sweetness to proceedings.

Bottle from Beer Ambleside. Appearance - dark brown to black with red chinks. Cream to fawn head. Not as carbonated as expected. Nose - toffee and some dried fruit. Taste - honey, orange and mainly toffee again. Palate - creamy and medium bodied. Overall - a bit cloying and single dimensional.

Bottle shared with Ashton McCobb. Pours clear dark mahogany with a short-lived thin beige head. Taste and aromas are all about the toffee. Not much porterly goodness going on here. Honey sweet, faint spice. Hmm.
