A liquid love letter to one of the founding pillars of the craft beer movement, and one that very much belies its reasonably high ABV. The characteristic West Coast resin and pine aromas are followed by a smooth bitterness that rises and falls with every sip.

Can from Beers of Europe. Cloudy amber brown color, large tan head. Aroma of caramel and cereal. Taste starts with sweet burnt caramel, dark fruit, bitter fruity finish. Neither a West Coast nor a New England style IPA.

330ml can delivered from Beers of Europe and drunk at home. Dark reddish amber/gold, clear with a small layer of beige head. Aroma of berries and dates with a little bit of pine. Bittersweet taste with a medicinal bitterness in the long finish. Thick, oily body with medium carbonation. I feel like it’s good, but fairly messy. It grows on me but it isn’t the best put-together beer.

Bottle from keg at Smiling Grape. Pours amber, small white head, decent retention. Aroma of caramel malts, orange, resin, pine. Taste is again caramel malts, pine resin, grapefruit and a sharp citrus in the middle. Dry bitter finish. Moderate body and decent soft carbonation. A cross between a traditional English and West Coast IPA. Moreish. I really like it.

Can @ Højbjerg tasting 28 July. Pours hazy darkish amber with airy but stable off-white head. Clear aroma of hops and citrus, with notes of malt and fruit and touches of yeast. Bitter, hoppy and citric flavour with sweetish notes of malt and fruit and some estery notes. Estery and malty aftertaste with some bitter hints. Nice
