Spitfire Amber Kentish Ale was first brewed in 1990 to commemorate the Battle of Britain which was fought in the skies above Kent 50 years earlier and is one of the leading ales in the UK. Spitfire Amber Ale combines the pick of Kentish hops to layer bitter orange marmalade flavour on top of sweet biscuits and caramel malts for a peppery dry finish. De nuevo catando en el campo bajo el cielo estrellado. Servida en pinta, color ámbar claro, limpia, corona de espuma blanco hueso de retención media-baja. Aroma a malta, caramelo y frutos secos.

Trasparent amber or slightly darker. About one finger of rather dense head, the slightest off-white. Decent retention, little lacing. Reasonably intense aroma: malty base of caramel with hints of nuttiness, light red/dried fruitiness with hints of tea-like leafiness/bitterness and maybe a hint of anise spiciness. Taste is medium to light sweet and medium bitter with a bittering edge in a rather dry finish and a light tea-like bitter aftertaste. Taste notes as per aroma: not at all a bad flavour profile, but a lightly harsh one, quite edged and not as smooth/refined as the style demands. Same goes for mouthfeel: light bodied, light to medium carbonation; a relatively easy mouthfeel, but far from the smoothness you come to expect from the style. Meh...

Bottle. I've had quite some pints of this beer early '90s in my pre-Ratebeer time. Stayed several times in Faversham during these days and visited the brewery. Nice to see this beer is still around nowadays, time to drink it once again and rate it for the first time on Ratebeer. Color: Clear amber to mahogany, off-white head. Aroma: Malty, floral hop, caramel. Taste: Dry-ish, over moderate bitter, caramel malt, floral hop. Light hints of licorice. Moderate sweet. Finish is over moderate sweet and moderate bitter, ending again more to the dry and bitter side. Medium body, just below average carbonation. I still love these old English classics...

# 2785; 3/2022. Toasty, malty, cherries, earthy, floral aroma. Brilliant amber body; white head quikly disappeared. Toasty, stone fruits, floral, resiny, drinable, bitter finish. Good bitter. 0,5 l, clear glass bottle, supermarket, Lincoln (Lincolnshiter, England).

Bottle from Lidl. Pours a clear copper colour with a thin off-white head. Aromas of caramel, butterscotch, toasty bread and also slightly metallic. Taste has more caramel and toasty bread, a touch of peppery spice and that same metallic note on the finish. Thinnish body, fair carbonation and slightly oily mouthfeel. Ok but Shepherd Neame do better beers.
