This Belgian-style saison presents a pale golden color capped by a robust head of bright white foam. Saison, like so many Belgian styles, offer a yeast-driven profile, and Small Town is no exception as its very distinctive aroma delivers classic saison notes. The Belgian yeast strain delivers plenty of phenolic clove-live character along with softer bubblegum and banana. Those fond of Belgian witbiers will notice a resemblance. A dash of Strisselspalt, a classic Alsatian hop, augments the yeasty aromas with additional herbal and spicy character, with floral flashes. That trio of bubblegum, banana, and clove makes itself known upfront on the palate, too, atop a malt core that comes through quite clean with a light crackery impression. Effervescent carbonation provides plenty of lift and a bit of extra bite to bolster the mild hop bitterness and hint of lemony acidity. Bright, spicy, and super drinkable, this sessionable saison makes a fine companion to a wide variety of dishes. We're thinking grilled halibut steaks, steamed shellfish with coriander and lemon, roasted chicken, Pad Thai, funky and earthy cheeses, or a slice of lemon meringue pie. Cheers!

Canned July 7th 2023, from City Brew Tours.

It pours a mostly clear straw gold with a goodly amount of foam, shrinks quickly leaving very little lacing.

The smell is lemon, light cloves, yeasty, somewhat spicy, grassy.

The taste is spicy, grassy, lemon, yeasty, coriander. Tasty.

Light end of medium bodied, plenty of carbonation.

A good example of the style.

Bottle from wegmans chatauqua. Rare find. Pale yellow. Big white craggy head. Good crisp co2 feel on this one. Unmistakable saison character. Sizzling enjoyable fun. Lacks many of the ill effects found in most domestic saisons. Pretty much on style for a real old country saizy. Civilized, easy, fun, enjoyable fer sher. Nice job burger. Provides tongue biting co2 clear to the end, nice. Better than expected overall beer drinking experience.

Bottle from Wegmans. Yeasty, estery, bit citric, some butterness. Missing a bit the floral notes.

Sampled at Tap NY 2015, 4/25/15, NY State Brewery #115!
Pours a light gold color. Aroma has some yeast, fruity notes, and a bit of spice. Flavor is similar. Not quite as clean as it could be. Decent enough saison. This one is not top of style, but I thought it was pretty decent.

On tap at the brewery. Slightly hazy pale straw pour with a white head; yeasty aroma with a touch of cloves; sweet and fruity taste; and a dry grainy finish. Satisfying.
