Growler from Brouwerij lane in Greenpoint. Pours a light gold, nice smoke aroma, with some grass etc. Overall, these guys nailed the style. Straight outta Bamberg, bitch!

Draught @ the brewery. Lightly cloudy rich yellow with foamy white head, smoky malt aroma, high carbonation, smoky malt taste, lightly bitter smooth body, long smoky finish. Great rauchbier!

Draft at Proletariat - NYC. Nice rauchbier. Pours mostly clear gold with a frothy, off-white head. Rich smoked malts throughout with nips of ham and toast. Light to medium bodied with fine carbonation. Finishes with rich fire, lingering smoke, moderate sweetness, faint leafy bitterness, more ham and light honey. Wonderful stuff.

Tap at Top Hops beer shop. Pours orange gold with nice head. Nose is meaty and pine. Tastes of only light bacon, with pine, toast, and malty, hint of copper pennies on finish. decent beer

Location: Sampled at TapNY, 4/26/14

Aroma: The nose is smoke wood and meat mostly, with toasted malts
Appearance: It pours a clear gold-orange color with a white head
Flavor: The flavor is much the same, pretty nice and smokey, with meat and grainy flavors
Palate: This one has a medium body, and a pretty nice mouthfeel
Overall Impression: I thought this was one of the better smoked beers at the festival. Some really nice stuff. I almost skipped Barrier due to their availability in the city, but I'm glad I did not. This was well worth the stop.

The Sampler, Brooklyn tap: Pours copper with a white head. Aroma is smoke, light meat, with a little sweet malts. Taste is smoky up at the front, but then goes into a somewhat sweet lager. The smoke really isn’t powerful enough or distinctive enough for me and sort of takes second whistle to the malts as you continue sipping.
