Refrigerated bottle, best by February 2014, poured into a weizen glass. Pours clear copper with half inch dense beige head. Aroma is caramel malt, medium body medium carbonation, and pretty good big bubble lacing. Taste is big malty caramel malt, hints of yeast, some bread, and hints of vanilla in the finish. Not the typical combination of flavors, especially for a german variety, but not a bad beer, and I don’t think the age of the beer made much difference.

Bottle from Sugaya, shared at the Dig Bar American Craft Event. Slightly past date. Served in a tulip. A nice malty caramel somewhat yeasty aroma. The beer has a medium bodied with a spritzy mouthfeel. The taste is caramel, toffee, yeast, mild spices think some kind of spicy bready cake. Pretty good.

22oz bottle. Poured a clear golden amber color with a medium sized off-white head. Aroma is light sweet malts, some earthy notes, some light spice character. Flavor has some grain notes, sweet malts, some earthy character. Pretty enjoyable actually.

24oz Bottle pours a clear light brown. Small but sturdy sandy head with aromas of soft fruit, apples and mellow tones of caramel and brown surag. Some light pitted fruit in the flavors, more maltiness and a touch of paper at the end. Soft carbonation and a rich smooth palate. Very tasty

Bomber into my Aventinus glass, bought at Fred Meyer in CDA, ID. Aroma is chalky candy, very light banana, dough, minerals; not the clove and banana explosion I expect from one of my favorite styles! Pours clear copper with a collapsing medium off-white head. Taste is weirdly tart with a lingering bitter finish. Light flavor of earth, biscuit. Tastes nothing like a weizenbock. WTF is this? Tastes like an American Amber ale. Creamy mouthfeel, finely carbonated. Not bad tasting, just not to style one little bit. What the hell?

Bomber from Beer Run. Pours a clear copper color with a thin frothy off-white head. Fair head retention. Aroma of raisin, toffee, earth, wheat, dark malts. The taste is raisin, dark fruits, caramel, toffee, chocolate, wheat, tinny hops. Thin-medium bodied. Okay.

Very malty aroma, clear amber in color with small silky head. This is one of my favorite German styles, but I find the American varieties lacking. This is decent but doesn’t have the alcohol kick or smooth flavor of Bavaria.

22 ounce bottle. Deep coppery brown color with a small bubbly white head. Roasted malt aroma with notes of burnt caramel and vanilla. Toasted malt palate is soft and sweet with spicy notes of cinnamon and floral hops. This may be the smoothest weizen bock I have ever had. Not necessarily a good thing. I expected more body and complexity. This is not a bad beer, but just a bit unassuming.

Pours orange red into a weizen. White head with medium retention recedes to skim surface. Hot caramel and nut aromas. Roasted nuts and sourdough upfront turning to hot toffee in the lasting finish.

Location: 22 oz bottle from State Line, 3/15/13

Aroma: It has some sweet malts, wheat, grains, fruity notes, and a bit of spice on the nose
Appearance: This one pours a mahogany-red color with a small tan head and minimal lace
Flavor: The taste is medium-plus sweet, with some spice, and minimal bitterness
Palate: This beer drinks pretty decently with a fairly light body, the finish feels a bit short
Overall Impression: I was not super impressed by this one. It certainly isn't terrible, but it really just doesn't excel either. Mediocre seems like about the right way to describe it.
