Bottle. Dark brownish-amber. Aroma was chocolate-coffee, slight hay and grass. Flavor was really too burnt. Pleasant flavor though. Overall I liked it.

A deep dark dunkel with a thin brown head. In aroma, nice smooth fruity malt with dark fruits, chocolate, surprising, close to a porter. In mouth, a smooth fruity malt with dark fruits, light peated notes, chocolate, porter-like.

Location: 12 oz bottle from Norm's, 6/6/12

Aroma: The nose is sweet, with notes of caramel, chocolate, wheat, toffee, fruit, and cookie dough
Appearance: It pours a dark-brown black color with a fizzy, lasting, medium brown head
Flavor: Tastes moderate-plus sweet, with some later spicy/peppery flavors, and a slightly acidic finish
Palate: It is extremely over-carbonated (to the point of being hard to drink), with a dry, acidic finish
Overall Impression: This was some weird stuff, I got a little more complexity from the nose then the flavor, and I also felt that the components of the nose were more interesting (and worked better as a whole) then what came across in the flavor. Either way, the beer itself was decent, but the body killed it for me. It borders on undrinkable, which is a shame, because the rest of the beer was significantly better. I ended up here, but the score could have a gone a few different ways for sure.

12oz bottle. Opaque brown-black. Thinnish, patchy, beige head. Quite interesting chocolate fruitcake aroma. Really reminiscent of a lot of really great dark beers, but sort of falls short. Roasty, watery chocolate flavors, light cranberry/raspberry tones. Very drinkable, quite enjoyable. More like a fruity Porter than a Dunkelweizen. Watery body, a little insipid, but redeems itself with a nice balance. OK.

12oz bottle. Poured a dark brown color, small tan head. Aroma is dark caramel, fruity yeast notes, something else sweet in there I couldn’t quite place. Flavor is sweet caramel notes, with notes of yeast and bread notes. I can see its flaws, but enjoyed it a lot.

Very hazy and chunky muddy brown coloured body with a large frothy tan head. Aroma of malt, light spices, a touch of earth, some minor fruits and even more malt - potent. Medium-bodied; Assertive malt flavours with some sweetness soon afterwards and a good earthy, nutty flavour that lasts quite a while. Aftertaste shows more malt than anything else, a touch of alcohol and fruits with the muddy earthie notes behind. Overall, a nice dunkel with perhaps more of a focus on the malt than the other complexities, but a nice beer nonetheless. I sampled this twelve ounce bottle purchased from Bon Vivant Market in Smithfield, Virginia on 14-October-2010 for US$2.25 sampled at home in Upstate New York (New Paltz) on 07-May-2011.

12 ounce bottle from Market Street Wine Shop, downtown, Charlottesville, VA. Pours a hazy, almost muddy looking dark brown color. Thin fizzy offwhite head. Decent head retention and lacing. Aroma of caramel, toffee, clove and a faint roastiness. The taste is lightly roasted malts, some toastiness, caramel, herbs, green banana, faint spicy notes. Medium bodied. Odd beast.
