On tap at Ginger Man Norwalk. Poured a near clear amber with a red hue and a white head that lasted throughout the beer and laced nicely. Aroma was a combination of citrus and grapefruit with a bit of a backing pine bite. Flavor started with grapefruit and mellowed into a bit of a sweeter citrus finish.

A hazed amber IPA with a thin off white head. In aroma, superb pinhey hops,menthol, grapefruit pulp. In mouth, a nice pink grapefruits desert covered with honey, biscuitty malts, warming alcohol. Cask at Get Real NY, March 19th 2011.

Bomber from Oak Tree. Pours hazy orange amber with a 3 finger creamy beige head. Aroma of resin over light roast malt. Med body. Flavor is pretty piney, followed by a burst of sweet malt. It finishes on the resin bitter dry side. Very nicely done.

Aroma: The nose is fairly resiny/piny, light booze, light caramel, and some citrus fruits
Appearance: It pours a hazy copperish color with an off-white head a top it
Flavor: The taste leans mostly toward the hoppy side, but it has some sweetness as well
Palate: The body is medium with a fairly dry feel, a slight astringency, and slight heat
Overall Impression: This is a pretty solid IPA. I liked it. It makes for a nice drink in my opinion. I don't have too much to say beyond that. A solid example of the style with just a bit of a boozy/barley winy feel to it.

Draft. Deep amber body. Off-white head, slowly diminishing. Aroma of pine, citrus with notes of sweet tropical fruit and caramel. The flavor is moderately sweet and moderately bitter. It finishes lightly to moderately sweet and moderately bitter. Medium body, watery texture, moderate carbonation. A sweet IPA of average distinction.

On tap at Blue Point. Transparent copper amber with a barely off white head that lasted and left some nice lacing. Well balanced aroma that’s both citrus fruits and pine but also caramel and cookie dough. Caramel sweetness is the first flavor, followed by plenty of bitter, citrus hops (grapefruit and lemons) with a dry, malty presence at the end that cuts the bitterness. Finish is dry with some lingering bitterness. Best item on tap.

Tap at the brewery - the board behind the bar didn’t have any specific info about this beer, so I couldn’t list the abv, etc. - anyway, this one dances the line between IPA and IIPA - it has enough heft to be considered an IIPA, but, from what I could tell, the abv probably isn’t high enough to make that distinction - as far as the flavor is concerned, this is a pretty standard, one-dimensional american IPA - a bit sugary sweet, a light touch of caramel - decent hop flavor, especially in the finish, but the bitterness is a bit astringent - notes of sweetened grapefruit and some other ambiguous fruity character - a splash of rye - lingering sweetness and astringency in the finish - meh - this is no way to celebrate an anniversary.
