Poured into a snifter, the appearance was a semi-dark brown close to black color with a finger’s worth of almond white foamy head. Light messy lace.
The aroma had some soft sweet to roasty almonds over top of some fudge/brownie mix, light whiskey, driftwood and a light earthy hoppiness.
The flavor was moderately sweet running through some woody dryness. Aftertaste was dry almonds and fudge. Finish was malty sweet.
The feel was about medium on the body with a good sipping quality about it. ABV felt as projected by the brewer. Carbonation felt fine.
Overall, it worked as an imperial stout, maybe not one to seek and destroy as a hopeful \"whale,’ but it did the trick for me.

Pours black into a snifter. Mocha head with medium retention recedes to hug rim. Hot chocolate and roasted almond aromas. Full with chocolate and hot almond liquor front to back. Lasting charred oak and roasted nut finish.

Bottle, drunk 2/20/16.
Moderately hazy ebony and cocoa. Tan head shows low retention.
Alcohol, almond liqueur. Black cherry. Oh boy.
Maltier in flavor with chocolate and fudge. Tons of treacle and bitter roast with plenty of vanilla and cream. Soft, creamy texture. Lots of black cherry skin

22 oz bottle thanks to Chalumeaux, fast dying tan head on a black liquid. Aroma has a strong booze presence with a deep chocolate, the almond is just an after thought.

Have to be honest, what is almond liquor. The nuts are a hint under the the booze and brownie batter base. This also has a very mild hop element in here as well. Helps cut the malts just a tad. Mouthfeel is still pretty full with a slick feel over the palate. Pretty nice.

Thanks TJ for bringing it. bottled 2/11/2016. Black, lots of red in here, it’s not oily or thick, had a small head that faded fast. The aroma is actually pretty weak with just a little bit of cocoa. Oh, this is interesting. it has this citrus sweetness to it like a rum or something else. It’s nice. it has this nectarine sort of taste. I like the finish, it ends really nice.
