750 ml bottle. The beer is black with very dark brown edges. Small brown head, dissipates quickly. The aroma shows off sweet almond and light maple on top of heavy roast. There’s a light berry fruitiness. It’s an odd combination. The taste is intensely roasty. Harsh bitterness, particularly in the finish. Some light almond and chocolate sweetness up front. Kind of a washed out sweetness, though. Not terribly strong of a flavor. A little bit thin but there’s more body and smoothness than expected. Sorta interesting but not terribly enjoyable.

Bottle from the brewery. Pours a solid black with a huge lively tan head that persists forever. Roasty, chocolate, intensely nutty with bits of tart and pitted fruits. Just a hint of caramelized sugar, maple perhaps, but not readily apparent. That is an awesome insanely complex nose! The flavor is roasty and adds a bit of a molasses that wasn’t really in the aroma. Big brown sugary malt backbone with quite a nutty flavor melding with some alcohol, light earth, funk and pitted fruitiness. Light solvent notes sometimes linger in the finish. I enjoyed sipping on this most of the night.

2015 750 mL, drunk 11/28/15.
Opaque black body has a large tan head that sits at cover.
Certainly a unique nose, with toffee, anise, light espresso and some liquor. Very dry, but never would I call it bretty. Though of course, brett primary beers exhibit much less "brett" character than those w brett added to secondary or after.
Lots of black licorice and other varied phenols keep it really dry. Earthy, dry, vanilla bean, clove. Good, with a tight carbonation, but just so punishingly dry and astringent. Retronasal a bit of rocket fuel and plastic. Awesome idea and innovative, but needs some savory and sweet malty characteristics to balance.

750 ml bottle shared by Willrunforbeer. Pitch black with some lasting tan head. Aroma is crushed almonds, earthy malt, a different chocolate nuance.

The flavor comes off very, very different. The Brett is not even noticed in the flavor with the almond notes coming out again in the finish. It’s earthy and a bit different but I like how different it is. Body is fuller and dense. Funny thing is with how off the wall it is, it doesn’t make it easy to rate or describe.

From a 6-liter bottle. Split 2 ways.

A - A good dark black to brown with a little bit of see-through bits. a 1 finger head, espresso color.

S - The nose is really interesting. It’s unlike any stout I’ve had. It has this sweetness with a funky smell with cocoa, even some citrus. all kinds of really interesting aromas going on

T - This is really interesting. There’s this very medicinal sticky taste that is from middle to finish. that part is really hard to make me want to take another sip. Up front, very distinct chocolate with funk, woody charred acidity like a burnt tar taste.

M - Dense, oily, thick

O - Oh boy, this one was really hard to rate. I’m even getting some gasoline taste as it warms up. WTF is wrong with my mouth. Did I eat something awful to make this taste so rough. Sorry Dave. I’m going to try to get a bottle to have this again with a fresh palate because I’m probably not doing it justice.
