Sunshower is our Super Saison, a high-gravity farmhouse ale inspired by the ethereal refreshing mid-summer moments when we experience both rainfall and the heat of the sun in New England. Similar to our flagship Trillium, the mouthfeel is light and effervescent with a bright, golden hue. We allow the fermentation temperature to free-rise, resulting in a dry beer with strength and complexity. Layers of pepper and earthy characteristics that play nice with the crisp, smooth backbone of a pilsner and wheat malt bill. This version showcases the Centennial hop, which provides a floral, lemony brightness in both aroma and flavor.

750 ml bottle shared by AdamC. Bright gold color with sudsy head and lace. Well we just had the El Dorado dry hopped 5 minutes before this and it’s strange... It’s smells nearly the same. Perhaps it’s he yeast strain. Aroma is spicy and herbal. The slightest note of pine.

The flavor is shows the weakest note of pine with a huge amount of herbal character. Also has a bit to much sugar in the finish. Like it was not all fermented out. Yeast character is very subtle with the herbal / spicy notes overriding any pine that try’s to come through. Just ok for me.

Sample at Tomahawk Warrior’s First Birthday party on 06/06/2015: Hazy golden color with a medium thin white head that diminishes steadily to an outer ring. Partial rings of lacing on the glass. Aroma of citrus, herbal yeast and malt. Medium body with flavors of pithy citrus, yeast, doughy malt and hops. The finish is fruity with an herbal yeast aftertaste. Pretty good overall.

Pours hazy gold into a tulip. Bright white head with good retention recedes leaving spider lacing. Mango, yeast and tangerine aromas. Thick to medium bodied with sweet caramel and dough upfront turning pineapple and papaya before the medium length syrupy resin finish. Not the same improvement to the base that I found with the El Dorado dry hop...

32oz growler filled 5/29/15, drunk 6/4/15
Pale gold with some brighter marigold tints and a medium-sized white head that slowly recedes to cover. Lightly hazy. Leave it to their Belgian-style beers to have a much higher clarity than their IPAs (I understand why this is, but it’s still funny to me).
Straightforward C-hops in the nose don’t give off any overt resin, but rather an orange/grapefruit character. Some light yeast sourness mixes with the esters to produce some yellow fruit notes (peach, pineapple) while the alcohol is noted lightly. A bit of an odd, sugary-like note emerges as well, almost cotton candy-like.
The first thing I notice upon drinking it, is the much looser carbonation than their pales/IPAs. I constantly find this in their Belgian ales and I don’t understand why. It takes away from the crispness of the beer and exacerbates the sugary, cotton candy-like flavors found within. I took a few more sips and tried to imagine drinking this beer without knowing anything about it. I’m not sure I’d be able to pin it as Belgian. At best, a very Americanized version of a Belgian-style. Candyish, lightly alcoholic and very fruity (with moderate hop bitterness). If they could just tighten up the carbonation....
