On cask at the brewery. Aroma has a nice balanced character to it. Moderate chocolate notes, lighter vanilla and coffee. A hint of dark fruit and anise. Low roast character. Pours dark brown, almost black with a thin tan head that recedes to the edges where it lingers. Moderately strong lacing and medium small legs. Flavor is nice with a ton of chocolate character, but lacking some of the expected bitterness. Lighter vanilla than in the aroma but it creates a perception of sweetness. Lighter coffee than in the aroma and low roast. Medium bitterness. Lingering vanilla notes with some light chocolate character. Low dark fruit notes. Mouthfeel is medium bodied with a low creamy carbonation. Low astringency and low alcohol warmth. Overall a very enjoyable beer with lots of chocolate in the aroma and more vanilla in the flavor. Coffee notes add a nice background character and work well with the base beer. Touch of dark fruit adds an interesting note.

Pitch black. Creamy head. Nose is loaded with vanilla, oak and espresso. Taste more of the same. Very creamy.
