With this beer, I raise a toast to an original brewing pioneer, Greg Noonan.

Brewed with the finest pale malt, toasted barely, toasted rye, un-bittered black & wheat malts, along with layers of dank earthey hops. I hope you enjoy this dark, hoppy delight! -Sean

(17 avril 2013)

Draft @ The Reservoir, Waterbury, VT. The Lawson’s snifter showed lots of white head floating on a pitch black liquid. The first thing I noticed was the aromatic citrus hops. With some Earthy, roasted malt. Flavor is hop forward (big citrus bitterness) with good supporting sweet chocolate malt. Secondary notes of pine and only light resin after its real warm. The body is lighter than the beer would lead you to believe. I enjoyed this brew a lot. Excellent, Hoppy citrus influenced Black Ale.

Appearance is black but dark amber at the edges. 1 finger charcoal head fades to some nice lacing. Nose is sort of coconuts and figs with some earthy pine needles. Taste is very bitter, with a lots of acidic grapefruit. Very lemon zest in nature. Nice barley presence and a tad of peet. This is a fantastic black IPA

22 oz. bottle, sent from Chippo33 (thanks a lot, Paul), pours a deep dark brown / near-black with a small tan head. Aroma of toasted bread, light toasted malt, rye, wheat and restrained earthy hops. Flavour brings out loads of toasted malt and crusty rye bread upfront along with some wheaty notes, then followed by the muffled earthy hops. The wheat and rye seem to prevent the hops from being more at the forefront, though it all works in good harmony. Easy drinking, fairly restrained black IPA. Good stuff.
