Tap at the brewery - clear amber pour - flavor is medium-sweet but finishing lightly dry and spicy - fairly estery, but not overly so - a bit of gum, banana, light peppery phenols - alcohol is moderately present - not terribly complex, but also not an overly sweet banana bomb and many American versions of the style can be.

Location: On Tap at Legend, 12/26/09, under the name: Legend Belgian Tripel

Overall Impression: A pretty decent triple, not the best one I've ever had, but it was enjoyable. A little different then some triples that I have had.

Bright orange coloured body with tons of floating particles and a great frothy white head - This is what trip should look like! Aroma of honey, wheat, yeast, curacao and nice sugars. Medium-bodied; Sharp taste of yeast and honey at first, then fades to nice wheat and coriander seed. Aftertaste stays bitter on the palate for a while. Overall, a good tripel - basically what you’d expect from the style. Good from Legend (a bit impressive considering their others) and great to say that its from Virginia! I sampled this 65 cL bottle purchased from Norm’s in Vienna, Virginia on 02-June-2005 at Jon(R888710)’s.

Apple, cinnamon, touch of clove on the nose. Sparkling amber color, thin head. Tastes of phenolic apple with a bitterness that seems out of place. Bitter grain and grass lingers. Rather off balance.

2007 Bottle. Pours golden with a small short-lasting head. Aroma of banana and spice. More of same with the taste, with a hint of cinnamon at the end. Not much of a hop presence. Very smooth. Bottle from the same vintage sampled 4/25 that was totally infected and was an instant drain pour.

Rerate from tap at Legend, 2006: This years version seems to have gotten a bit sweeter and a bit closer to a hefeweizen with a lot of banana and yeasty notes. Bottle 2005: Hazy orange color with a thin creamy white head. Slightly sour aroma with hints of malt. Slightly sour flavor with hints of sweet malt. Original Rating: 8/4/9/4/17

22 oz bottle. Quite strong. Golden pour with little head. Flavor I couldn’t quite pinpoint (some kind of fruits), but was quite good. Extremely dry finish, and overall was a great find.

Bottle. Pours a slightly hazy golden amber with lotsa carbonation and a small white head. Sweet honey, coriander, and citrus in the nose. This beer’s a snap: into the motuh is a brilliant sweet flavor, and then in a snap dries out like you wouldn’t believe. Finishes with a dry sour apple flavor. I like this.
