Middling medium gold body and okay foam, soft standard malt and hop mix. Flavour is more hops and malts mixed in such a way that someone read a recipe book correctly. Full enough on the mouth. Drinkable but very standard.

On cask at Sailor Hagar's, pours a hazy copper golden with a medium white head. Aroma is quite fruity, with notes of tropical citrus fruits, resinous hops, and candied malt - quite aromatic for a pale ale. Flavour brings out loads of English hops, stone fruits, and caramel malt. Quite robust and full-bodied for the style. Very solid stuff.

Hand-pump at Sailor Hagar’s
Cloudy golden color; nice creamy head. Light fruity aroma. Low carbonation, smooth mouthfeel, good malt and blond caramel flavor, correct bitterness, with hints of hop qualities; shades of toffee in the end. Highly drinkable session beer.

Bottle. Hazy amber, low white head. Honeyish (wild heather) and minerally aroma. Solid mouthfeel, bready and strawlike malt, spicy, yeasty minerally notes, herbal and earthy hop balance - they are english allright. Very nice, just what I needed right now. Thanks for bringing it over to the Island Josh!

In the early Hagar’s days, this beer was a showcase for BC Kent Goldings. A couple of batches were among the finest APAs I’ve ever had. Then that hop disappeared from the landscape and the beer became more of a standard-issue EPA similar to many others in the region. Today, it’s a golden-amber ale with light bitterness, a faint papaya note, light maltiness, a hint of minerals. Rather light overall, but with nice balance and complexity. A subtle but enjoyable brew. Of all the current Hagar’s brews, this seems to best evidence a shift from Gary Lohin to Howe Sound as it is crafted much the same as the HS beers.
