Bottle from Beerwulf. Aroma is estery yeast with banana, malt, candied fruits, ripe pear, spicy notes. Flavour is quite sweet, slightly overwhelming. Body is medium. Pretty decent Tripel actually, way on the sweet side but the aroma checks out. Other ratings seem to be all over the place, some bad batches perhaps?

Avec un alcool quelque peu agressif et une aigreur marquée, cette Fagnes Triple ne vous laissera pas un souvenir impérissable. Le visuel est tout de même sympathique avec un joli blond doré limpide avec une fine effervescence soutenue et une mous blanc cassé crémeuse extrêmement abondante. Le nez met plutôt en confiance sur une alliance pomme, banane, céréales et coriandre. A la dégustation, on déchante quelque peu. Dès l'attaque l'alcool est sur les devants. Ce que je peux apprécier quand celui-ci est bien maîtrisé, mais sur cette Fagnes Triple, celui-ci est mal intégré et agressif. L'arrière bouche est également sur une aigreur peu appréciable. Les arômes présents au nez sont cachés de fait. La corpulence est plutôt bonne. Le final est quant à lui plus doux avec une intensité qui décroit rapidement. Une triple pas exceptionnelle.

Golden colour with lasting head. Aroma and flavour have a lot of sweetness. Bananas and ripe Galia melon. Too sweet. Off balance.

Donkergeel bier met schuim. Smaak is bitter hoppig en zoet kruidig met iets van banaan, vanille en iets van zoete snoepjes. Best lekker bier.

Pour is a clear amber with a large white head. Aroma is more like a German hefe with lots of clove and banana. Flavor is honeysuckle with a big dose of candi sugar. This was way too sweet. Finish has some spice to it but again the sweetness takes over. It has some things to like but this probably needs to be put away for a while and let the sweetness tame.

New tripel in this established series of Walloon ales. Steinie bottle from the Carrefour supermarket in Sint-Denijs-Westrem near Ghent. Very thick, egg-white, foamy, cobweb-lacing head over a lightly hazy, orangey peach blonde beer with fierce sparkling, turning misty and deeper orangey – almost amber – with sediment. Aroma of very pronounced banana ester (banana-flavoured bubblegum), ‘Fruitella’ candy even or banana milkshake, freshly ironed cloth, honey, coriander seed, straw, apple juice, ‘jenever’. Sweet onset with the expected overdose of banana-bubblegum isoamylacetate, notes or ripe pear and pineapple slices, tons of residual, honeyish white candi syrup sweetness poured over a slick, rounded, cereally malt middle with a thin metallic edge somewhere; mild floral hop bitterishness in the finish, lingering a bit and blending with a ‘dusty’, soapy coriander seed spiciness, both drenched in a warming afterglow of ‘jenever’-like alcohol. Very sweet, ‘hypercommercial’ Belgian cliché tripel for the masses, but technically correct so no further complaints here.
