L'Brett d'Pluot

Sample at The Source. Slightly hazy pale golden color with a thin white head that evaporates steadily to an outer ring. Short strings of lacing on the glass. Aroma of tart citrus, oak and yeast. Medium body with a tart lemony character and notes of herbal yeast, bready malt and brett. The finish is mildly funky with a fruity aftertaste. Good beer all around.

Smell is sour, fruity and funky with crackers, lemon juice, apricots, hay, dry soil, barnyard, leather and lemon zest. Taste is sour and slightly fruity with crackers, cereal, lemon juice, plouts, hay, dry soil, minerals, lemon zest and hints of barnyard. Bottle, shared by Felipe, thanks! Pours cloudy golden peach with a medium white head, dissipates fairly slowly and leaves decent lacing. Aroma is tart and fruity, some funkiness, oak. Flavor is fully mouth puckeringly tart, light funk, fruity and citrus/lemony.

From a 375 ml bottle. Aroma is a bit odd upfront with an almost acetone and poopy note, but that is not it. I think its an odd pluot variant with some citrus notes to it. Light oak and tropical fruit with a light herbal note. Pours a cloudy, pale yellow gold with a hint of pink (similar to the color of a white peach). Small, thick, white head with decent retention and lacing. Flavor is moderately acidic with some nice citrus and light tropical fruit. Really light stone fruit character, more similar to peaches to me. Light herbal and phenolic notes. Light bitterness and oak. Mouthfeel is medium bodied with medium carbonation. Low astringency and low alcohol warmth. Overall, a ncie beer but the pluot character is not very pronounced or distinguishable from other stone fruit. Lighter phenolics than the cherry version.

Bottle @ home with LeninCat. Pours a cloudy light yellow orange appearance with a thin white head. Some dust, lots of apricots / nectarines, light oak, funk, and vanilla in the nose. Smells quite nice. The flavor has a slight buttery / rancid egg note to it which is a bit unfortunate. The beer otherwise has a real nice stone fruit flavor with a little bit of tropical fruit. Carbonation is a bit dull. Mouth feel is a little syrupy. Not bad but also not as good as many of heir releases. (3.4)

2014 Cellar Reserve. Allowed upright for a few days in the fridge. Split 2 ways in stemware @ 45F

A - Looks really nice, very little carbonation with sort of a faint cloudy peach color or strawberry juice.

S - Nose is very light. you get a sour tart affect with faint persimmon, peach, pluot (duh) aromas and some rotten eggs / sulphur.

T - Taste is pretty good. I get a little heartburn and tongue rawness from the overly sour aspect of this, light tropical fruits and vinegar with a malty sweet finish

M - Mouthfeel is the same with most CR beers. thin, slightly oily not a lot to phone home about

O - This is one of the weaker L’Bret releases this year.

ABV: 6.0%. Clear light to medium yellow colour with a small, fizzy, fair lacing, mostly diminishing, white head. Aroma is moderate malty, wheat, funk, barrel, plum, grapes, wine - white wine. Flavor is moderate sweet and acidic with a average to long duration, plum, grapes, barrel, oak, funky, dry. Body is medium, texture is watery to oily, carbonation is soft to flat. [20220205]
