Flavorful, malty, bottle-conditioned Brown Ale. Full of character, yet low in alcohol. A pilot batch of Lee's Mild won the Brewer's Choice Award at the recent 1999 Southern California Real Ale Festival.

Ancient mild...sure, what the hell. Brownish-amber colour. Light haze. Oxidized, pruney taste. Smooth dark mild style malts with some plum...a little bit nutty as well. By all rights, this should be undrinkable, but it has a full body, rounded if oxidized flavours and a decent malt complexity. I would drink more if I could.

Bottled (1999 vintage). Clear reddish brown. Nutty, rosty papery nose. Fairly dry, crisp and spicy with clean mouthfeel and low carbonation. Low bitterness. It’s still fresh, alive and full of character.

Bottle from Eyedrinkale. Sherry aroma is beautiful, is this beer, or is this sherry??? Nutty, and no cardboard. Caramelly and lightly alcoholic. Caramel orange with a trickle of bubbles rising to form a small white head, just a slight, flimsy head. I can’t stop smelling this shit. Flavor is just puzzling. Vanilla, creme brulee and maybe a touch of roast. What the hell is this? A beer or a sherry clone? Light touches of zesty carbonation grace the palate, there is NO wateriness or thinning. It’s like hazelnut and creme de cacao with lingering nuts and marzipan (learned that word from tiggmtl, he likes it). Great beer, I really don’t think I’m kidding myself when I say that I could drink another couple glasses. I would defintely buy this beer if it was in stores in this condition. Crazy.
