A traditional dark mild, but with a delicate hoppy tone. The addition of just a dash of honey makes this an exceptional & highly acclaimed beer. Named for the skilled craftsman that were, and indeed are, responsible for the highly decorative plasterwork common on many buildings in the North Herts & East Essex area.

Cask at GBBF 2006. A very dark brown beer with a thin brown head. The aroma is sweet with primary notes of caramel, but also light roasted notes. The flavor is sweet with notes of caramel and malt, leading to an end with light notes of grapefruit.

(Cask at Wenlock Arms, London, 25 Nov) Black colour with pale brown head. Roasted nose with notes of coffee and tobacco. Roasted taste with coffe, chocolate and som citrussy hops in the bitterness. Surprisingly tasty and nice. One of the better milds I’ve tried.

[Cask at GBBF] Dark brown. Aroma of coffee and raisin. Sweetish and evidently roasty with notes of grass. Salty finish. Feels bigger than it’s size.

Cask gravity at Reading BF 06. Very dark brown with no head. Very much a mild in the traditional style. Some caramel, some choc/coffee. Inoffensive and drinkable.
